I arrived in Manila on a Friday evening during rush hour and it took over 2 hours to get to get to the hotel in a taxi.

The hotel is a few minutes walk from both Megamall and Robinson's Galleria - both huge malls.

The lobby is quite nice but the check-in was painfully slow and I was given a real key (rather than keycard) for the room. There are only 3 lifts serving over 30 floors and there can sometimes be a wait for a lift.

Some people live in the Malayan Plaza and others rent out their rooms for the hotel. The room was very big, with a separate living space and bedroom. However the furniture and curtains were very old-fashioned and in serious need of updating, especially the drimy curtains.

The bathroom was OK with very little amenities.

There is wifi in the room and in the restaurant but it is only valid for one appliance at a time which is really frustrating when there are two people in the room! They charge an additiional 200 Pesos per day for another logon code.

Breakfast come with the room and is a small buffet on the 33rd floor serving standard foods and cooking fresh eggs. It's nothing special but Ok if you are hungry.

The pool was also on this floor and seemd ok but hardly any sun loungers there to sit out.

The service was a bit strange with twice someone coming by to to a room check. The second time was at 9am and woke me up to do a check and deliver a newspaper. Admittedly I forgot to put on the Do Not Disturb sign.

Overall, it's not a bad place to stay for locarion.

Room Tip: Dleuxe split rooms

Spent two weeks here in June, with little to do except relax. No problem with check-in at 11pm, staff efficient and friendly. Room was as requested, high up with a balcony, but with twin beds! Extra cooking items provided as requested, even at this late time. On 22nd floor, so only the odd emergency sirens were heard.
Breakfast generally good, with pleasant and helpful staff. Good views if the curtains are open on dull days.
The swimming pool and exercise room were good, and a children's playroom was adjacent to the pool. A good view from the helicopter pad on the top of the building, but beware, no safety rails!!
Two minuses, only one set of tea, coffee, milk and sugar provided, penny pinching to the extreme. Also the deposit is not cleared immediately, so you have to wait for the refund. Both minor points, but they spoil the stay.

Room Tip: Get a high up room with a balcony.

I stayed for a week to attend a conference at a nearby institution. Location wise, it is no doubt a winner. But level of service needs significant upgrade.

The check-in was slow and involved a lot of confusion, paperwork, during which the staff continued to chat and joke with each other, totally ignoring the guests who are tired and want to go to the room asap. Maybe it was the standard in the Philippines.

The smell of food (instant noodles, to be precise) hit my nose when I entered the room. I had to spray perfume to be able to sleep. They forgot to put hand towel. When I asked for a toothbrush, it was delivered 1 hr later, only after I called the housekeeping again.

The stench was gone on day 2, so I guess the room wasn't properly cleaned up on the first day. The housekeeping also missed cleaning my room once during the week, which I later complained but didn't get any apology or explanation.

The only commendable service is the restaurant staff, who are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is very small and had no view whatsoever despite being located on 33F.

Other than its convenient location, I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially if you look for warm and welcoming staff.

They are very obliging, helpful and very welcoming and always smiling. The hotel itself is very central in location to everything. Podium, SM Mega mall St Francis and railway. Very safe location and very quiet at nightime.
I would recommend Malayan to all my friends and we are going back again this Christmas.

Room Tip: 20th floor

The Hotel is location is very central....Mall's are just a walk away.... it has an older feel, still using keys for doors.... bedding is very nice cotton, nice towels, not tooth brush to be found, coffee sugar and tea only given once when you check in... even found a few roaches upside down on there way out of this world.... I knew they had sprayed but still its not to nice to walk into you room and find these unwanted bugs....when I checked out they were not able to cancel my credit card deposit said they had to email the Bank and it would take app 2 to 3 weeks..... did not like this at all..... over all I think they can do better.... the breakfast buffet was nice each morning but the last..... couldn't enjoy it at all.... even the fruit juice is not fresh, in tropical climate you would think they could provide fresh but guess they are more interested in the bottom line than a happy customer..... If I returned and stayed here it would only be because of the location....

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the highest floor not only for the view but also away from the chance of having ro...

My husband and I stayed here overnight last week. We chose this hotel primarily for its price and its location. They had a promo that made the stay quite cheap for the location and the amenities. The price also included buffet breakfast for 2. Our room was on the 30th floor and was a corner room. We had nice views of the city. The room was big for 2 people. Unfortunately, the room had twin beds that they just put in together, which was also ok for us except for the headboard lamps looming above our heads which was quite a nuisance. The room had a lounge chair, lcd tv, kitchenette, wifi and a dining table for 2. The bathroom was small but it was clean and modern. It did not have a bathtub but the shower was spacious enough. The breakfast buffet had limited items but the food was good. Overall, it was wonderful experience. We had more than what we paid for. We'd stay in this hotel again in the future. Hopefully we'll get the same price and service again.

Room Tip: choose a high floor

I stayed here for one night, last week. The hotel locations is nice. It's just almost in front of podium. It's near el pueblo in ortigas. It's at the center of ortigas. They don't have a valet parking. So you have to park at the side of the hotel. Parking way is very steep. you have to ask the guard to let you park on the 2nd floor or 3rd floor because its inconvenient if its any higher. At the reception I told the receptionist Im booked and gave him my name. He probably just heard my last name and printed out the wrong guest. Apparently there was someone booked with the same surname as mine but it's male! So before signing the guest sheet, I immediately noticed it wasnt my name. was a guy's name. they immediately corrected it. But didnt apologize. Anyway, before he chose my room, I asked him to make sure he gives me a room with a good airconditioning because i read most of the reviews of the hotel are complaining about the aircon. He gave me a nice room on the 30th floor. He said, it's a newly renovated room. It didn't look like it was newly renovated though. It had a split type aircon. the keys to the door are literally the regular keys. not a card key. I guess they havent thought of upgrading the keys to card keys yet. a card key would have been more convenient. the room was really huge.. nice big lcd tv.. bathroom was a little small but enough. no bath tub. just a nice shower. the room had a balcony. but the balcony wasnt clean. the sliding door to the balcony was really old. it was hard to open it and close it. the wifi was fast enough although it wasnt really stable. it kept disconnecting for some time. the aircon was cool except that the room is too big for the aircon. i think the problem is that their aircon is cool but it's not enough for the spacios room. their rooms are like a condo-hotel rooms, it comes with a dining table and a big fridge and a sink. a semi kitchen type thing. so the aircon is too small for this kind of room. the rooms dont come with free hotel slippers! i had to order 2, one for me and for my son. they charge P45 for a pair. so i had to pay extra. they give you free newspaper everyday so thats good. and 2 bottles of water, but this is standard. the room was clean. you have to turn the aircon on yourself, and you have to turn the fridge on yourself too. what i liked about the room was their comforters. they are clean, fresh sheets! it smelled really nice. the beds are very comfy. BUT... I almost had a very nice sleep until at around 10am.. someone kept knocking on the door. then i heard someone tried to get in to our room so i immediately got off the bed to see.. good thing i used the door's double lock so when they tried to open it.. it wouldnt let em. then i saw them close the door again so i went back to bed coz i was still super sleepy!!! as soon as i got back in bed they kept knocking again, non-stop!! so i hurriedly open the door because in my head it might be important. and voila!! ...i asked the bellboy what he needed and he said, oh we're going to setup a lounge chair in your room. I asked, what is it for?? he said, it's really a part of the room's setup. That pissed me off! I was like, are you kidding? why are you setting it up just now? and do you realize you woke us up??? didnt you get the message when i didnt open the door?? he apologized saying.. im so sorry.. but is it ok to put the chair in?? I was like .... omg.. sheeeeeeesh. .. so i just said.. well you already woke me up anyway..so go ahead. .. and he immediately placed the lounge chair in my room and left. Im like a couple hours before check-out time, they give me a lounge chair and waking me up for that?? argh! wasnt worth losing a couple hours of sleep for a silly lounge chair. i was gonna give the hotel a 4 rating but because of a silly lounge chair.. no way. would have been nice if they gave you the lounge chair on the first day and not the last day when youre about to leave! my stay came with a free breakfast but i wasnt able to try their breakfast because i was too sleepy to get up. so no review for the breakfast. i regret not taking the breakfast because they woke me up anyway for a darn chair!

Room Tip: ask for the top rooms.
