“Just a room to stay on an overnight stay”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Since we have traveled for almost 20 hours including flight hour and layover in Hongkong, we book earlier through Agoda to stay at the Remington Hotel near the Resort World. Our flight arrival was 11:50 PM and this hotel as we've searched was near the airport just a 15 minute drive.
Anyway as we have been staying in a lot of hotels with our travels, Remington is just basic. In other hotels in Manila you can find a coffee maker, coffee and all the stuff needed by a traveler soon as you arrive in your hotel. The price is quite not what you expect since we paid P4,300. Well it has to be renovated. Two big beds and a Tv and nothing more.No free breakfast nor coffee in the room. so if you travel that long a hotel should provide you little comforts of home .Twas just two beds, a small washroom and it was even difficult to find their switch for their lights. Quite an old hotel.

I was in the Philippines for two meetings, both around the Resorts World area. As the price of the Marriott was considerable, and well above the price for a Marriott in Hong Kong and Singapore, I decided to try the Remington. (They are all within the same site, along with a glittering mall of high-end shops, casinos, cafes, tea shops, etc., and there’s a McDonalds within a stone’s throw.) I knew this was a budget option, and I adjusted my mind-set accordingly. My check-in was swift and courteous, and my room was fine for the job: clean and tidy; comfortable bed; great view; good and large TV (and with more English channels than any other hotel I’ve stayed in on this trip); shower; and a small selection of toiletries (I bring my own). It is obviously not luxurious, and it doesn’t pretend to be, but it is no different, really, than a Travelodge in the UK. The only real downside, for me anyway, was no tea-and-coffee tray. Other than that, it was completely fine. Given its location, its on-the-hour free shuttle bus to each terminal, welcoming staff that virtually always said hello or good morning to me, and responses to emails pre-arrival within 10 minutes, I would happily stay here again.

I just needed a place to stay near resorts world and I thought of checking Remington Hotel since it is fairly cheap compared to the other luxury hotels near resorts world. They had a rainy day promo where I only paid around PHP2300 all-in for a room with 2 twin beds. The hotel is fairly new so I hope they can maintain the cleanliness. You will only be provided with very basic amenities so don't expect too much. Small room, No mini bar, no free breakfast, no shampoo. At least they have soap, mineral water and toothbrush. But you don't need to fret because there's 7-11 at the ground floor to cater to your needs and there's also Mcdonald's if you get hungry. The staff were nice and hospitable. I would recommend this as a place to stay if there is just two of you, if you don't need extra amenities or facilities and you need a basic place to stay in near the airport or resorts world. Again, if you want more than this you can visit its sister hotels nearby.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel again. This hotel needs lots of improvement. Staff was not very friendly nor hospitable. I was also disappointed with their customer service. Response time is slow. I called housekeeping for a box of Kleenex and a blow dryer with no call back to let us know that there is no blow dryer or kleenex available. I had to call back 45 minutes later to let housekeeping know I will purchase my own box of kleenex and to insist the concierge contact me if they have or don't have blow dryers available. The restroom is small and dark. Not enough light in the bathroom and difficult to get ready. Had to open the curtains to bring in more light during the day. You can barely move in the shower stall and water flows out of the shower - messy & slippery. The only good thing about staying here was the location. Its close to McDonalds and Maxim's hotel which holds various kinds of restaurants, shops, movie theater, and casino, etc. Not worth the price you pay for staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Request for room that doesn't have water on the floor and away from noisy neighbors.

My flight was cancelled so I needed somewhere close and picked here, it is expensive and only after mentioning this was I told they could take the10% vat of because I presented a foreign passport, they can obviously do this all the time and choose not to or do it without your knowledge and make good money. The AC cannot be adjused and the concierge staff are terrible, asking for directions was like getting quantum physics explained.

New hotel close to NAIA with free shuttle service running every hour.Good choice for travellers in transit to other destinations. If you are in Manila for other reasons its better to stay in Makati close to business and shopping areas.
Rooms are big, queen beds comfy but the bathrooms are very small and gets flooded when the shower is used.Wifi did not work in rooms.

This is really a 2.5 star review, as the hotel itself should be considered average. The problem is that the price point is very high for what you get. We paid less for a lovely 5-star hotel much further from the airport, and if you are a business person, maybe go straight to Makati.

Despite the fact that there are all kinds of people running around in green hotel uniforms, there simply are not enough porters or desk staff to handle the traffic. We stayed here on three occasions during an extended trip, because this was the hotel chosen by the company. They are so slow at the front desk that you actually have to take a number rather than wait in line. Then you sit with a crowd of people next to registration and wait for them to call your number, so that you can stand in line before getting to the desk. The first time was ok, since we got there well after midnight. The second time we were there it took over an hour to check in. The third time it took 40 minutes.

The porters stand around, so unlike other hotels in the Philippines, they do not meet you at the door, and you have to go inside to request one to come outside and help you. Even then, things do not work smoothly. First, they look at each other to see who will actually do the work rather than pleasantly just doing their job in the first place. Then, they lost our luggage cart and brought the wrong one up to our room. I had to go back down to the lobby to show them our stack of luggage in the cart, while the wrong one that they had brought up simply got left by the elevators on our floor. Who even knows how long it took those poor people to get their luggage or whether anything was grabbed by an opportunistic person?

The rooms themselves rate around three stars, but I would give them even less, because they show the same lack of regard for clean bathrooms that many Filipino hotels have. Despite checking in with three people, I always had to call for an extra towel and then tip the person bringing it. The last set we had a very noticeable moldy smell. Perhaps even worse for some people, the air conditioning is not controllable by the occupant, despite there being a remote. The first room was freezing cold, the second was too warm. When we called housekeeping, someone came up, pressed the remote a few times, and then declared that it was centrally controlled. We came back from dinner, and it was freezing. The third room was cold, so I can safely conclude that is the normal temperature. On the bright side, the hallways are not air conditioned, so you can always warm up by leaving your room. Just dress warmly, because the blankets aren't enough, and beware that your cameras and computers will have a lot of condensation when you leave the room as a result of the rapid changes in climate.

If you are a business person, you will be extremely disappointed, as there is no desk and no chair in the rooms, only the beds. The wifi also is not strong enough to reach the rooms. You have to go down to the lobby, and even then it it pretty slow. Traveling with someone else? You are out of luck, as you only get one unique username and password for one device per room.

Finally, the buffet is very weak compared to other hotel buffets, with little variety and of middling quality. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel to others, given how much it costs a night and what you can get at other hotels for the same price.
