“Not so good . . don't recommend”
Reviewed December 20, 2011

We stayed here last week and I'm not really impressed bout the room, there's no window . . Good thing this hotel is just beside the Robinsons Mall so we just stayed there most of the time. There's no room service so if you got hungry middle of the night you'd need to go to the MiniStop just beside the hotel. For me, room is not that accommodating, you're not allowed to eat inside nor smoke . On the other hand, I must say that the bed is great same with the bathroom, the H/C shower functions well :)

One more thing, some hotels have this complementary late check-out (until 12PM) but GoHotel is not, if you fail to advise the frontdesk that that you'll be staying for another hour or two you'll be charged full day . .I'm not impressed.

Stayed here for 10 days at very reasonable rates. Before booking, you have to understand that this is a no frills hotel, but delivers a product that exceeds some full serve hotels. The room is small, but the room is functional and extremely clean. The bathroom fixtures and tiles were impeccable and served its purpose for a weary traveler. The rooms are secure and wi-fi worked without any complaints. I had no issues with the staff here and provided me with what I needed. Used the restaurant in the lobby as well as the laundry and taxi services. The taxi service was very friendly and reliable.

The location is right on EDSA in Mandaluyong, so it is very accessible. The Robinsons Forum Mall across the street is convenient and has a couple of good restaurants. The Robinsons supermarket in the mall is reasonably priced with a food court with excellent Filipino food readily available.

Overall not a bad place available for a really good price. I only hope GoHotels will soon sprout out all over the Philippines.

Room Tip: Some rooms do not have windows. The back rooms have windows, but has a rather industrial view.

PROS
- Food and groceries are plentiful, there is Mini-Stop, Cafe and Robinson's Pioneer mall next door. However, this only applies when the Mall is open, which is from around 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.
- ATMs are not a problem, there is one next to the Mini-Stop, and more on the Robinson's Pioneer Mall. But again, only when the mall is open.
- The hallways are HUGE.
- The hotel is new, so everything works, and they look very modern (bathroom, aircon, TV, etc.)
- Relatively cheap price, only around USD 50 per night on average (if you book 1-2 weeks in advance). Prices even go down to as low as USD 20, but only if you book a couple of months in advance.
- Security pretty good, CCTVs on the Reception area, electronic card pass for your room door. Main hotel door also secured, only allowing access when reception is notified.
- Wifi is FREE, and fast. Signal is also strong, but these only apply in the common areas.
- Mall next door is relatively small, but has a big grocery area, and is suitable enough for other options (i.e., food, entertainment, etc.)
- About 10 minutes walk to the Boni MRT Station.
- Centrally located, about 1-2 MRT stations to the Ortigas Business District (i.e., Mega Mall, Shangrila Mall, etc.) on one side, and 2 MRT stations to the Makati Business District (i.e., Glorietta, Greenbelt, etc.) on the other side.
- Nice view of EDSA from the rooms.
- There is a Spa on the common area on the 5th floor, a good idea if you want to relax.
- Hotel staff is polite, they will greet you whenever you encounter them in the hallways.

CONS
- Room rates vary by as much as P400-500 per day, depending on hotel occupancy
- There is no drive by path leading to the Reception area, you have to pass by 1-2 stairs (depending on where you enter). Not good if you are carrying a lot of luggage. Probably as a punishment for your being a cheapskate.
- The elevator does go all the way down to the Cybergate Plaza carpark, and you can use this to transport your luggage, but you won't know about it unless you've stayed in the hotel before as it is not obvious.
- Most of the time there is nobody to assist you, so you will have to carry all of your own luggage to and from your hotel room.
- Wifi signal is weak in the rooms.
- No seats, or tables. You only get a makeshift table hanging on the wall next to your bed.
- A common area with tables and seats are provided on each floor, and they are spacious and comfortable, but they lack privacy, and are not as cold as the rooms.
- Walls are made of concrete, but noise from the halls and walls are easily transmitted to the rooms.
- No cabinets, or any appliances, or utensils (i.e. Refrigerator, Water Boiler, Cups, etc.) either.
- Occupancy is pretty high, hence prices are generally higher, and the need to make advance reservations is critical.
- After mall hours, your food or grocery choices drastically goes down only to the Mini-Stop and Cafe.
- Cafe next door has poor service, waiters and waitresses are lax. Also it is almost always full on breakfasts during weekdays. Food prices are mid-range, not necessarily low.
- Constant foot traffic nearby all day and night, thanks to the Call Centers in the building next door. Some see this as positive, I don't.
- Room cleaning is done only on request (i.e., note on the door), and is scheduled only on certain times of the day.

SUMMARY
- Good value for money, reminds me a lot of some of the airport malls I have been to. Decent place to stay, if you are on a budget.

Room Tip: Book months in advance if possible, and get rooms as far away from the common areas if possible.

I booked 2 rooms for July 2-6 and only paid P5713.. great deal right? Yup, but the whole process was a bit bumpy for me. When I found out they had a P588 promo, i immediately made my reservations. Unfortunately, being the busy bee that I am, I wasnt able to visit the payment center (Robinson's Bank) within the cut off period and I was informed through text that my reservations were cancelled the next day. No biggy! I knew that was gonna happen. :)

Anyways, I booked it again and this time I was able to make the payment and they said everything was good to go. That was February. Fast forward to June, which was4 months later, I received an email from them saying that my reservations were cancelled. I was so pissed that I wrote them back. (On my email were chat transcripts, screenshots and the works.. Looking back, it makes me laugh. Forgive me, I was paranoid. lol)

Here's how the email went:

"Attached is the screenshot of the DG receipt, the deposit slip and below is the transcript of the chat I had with one of your representatives after i made the bookings. I wrote a Metrobank CDO Main Branch Check with check no XXXXXXX. The payment was made last February 8 2011 at 10:04am.. (P5716.48)
My sister then faxed the deposit slip afterwards to the number indicated on the receipt.

May I know why our reservations were "cancelled" and why it took you several months to inform us? I remembered initially when I made the first booking and was not able to make the payment on time, that I was immediately informed that it was going to be cancelled through text. We paid for this a few months ago and I am shocked to hear this now.

If there was a problem with my check, I should have been informed by my bank right away. And if there was a problem with my booking, I should have heard from your company sooner so I could have made other arrangements.

I apologize for my tone but I hope you could assist us in making sure that everything will push through like how it was planned.

Let me know if you have any other concerns.
I hope to hear from you soon. "

Well, anyways, to cut the long story short... They admit they had made a mistake and assured me it wont happen again. I accepted their apology which I thought was sincere since they were being very honest and decided that this little setback was not going to ruin my trip.

The thing with budget hotels is that the customer (THAT MEANS YOU!), should always do your research to set your expectations. I believe their website did a good job with doing that. Before I made mine, I already knew about what services they had to offer for free and for a fee. (Check out their room and hotel information for the details)

The rooms were clean, modern and unfussy. :) I think the best part of the whole stay was the bed. I was travelling with my family and my bf and we all had a good night sleep the entire time. Theyre so many restaurants around MLA and around the hotel, that even though you cant eat your food inside the room, they have some tables and chairs set up at every level where you can just hang out and eat with your group. Which is by the way better than making a mess in your room, then having to clean it up.. You know the drill. -- So, Just go eat outside. Trust me. ;)

The wifi was ok. I saw cisco routers at every corner but the signal wasnt that good at times except at night. Which is also ok, since we're not usually at the hotel during the day. But I had to make a call at the front desk to have them check it and they were very quick to help.

We went to MLA mostly to do some shopping, have a little food trip and we also watch Cirque de Soleil when they visited MLA. It was nice to go back to the hotel and have a nice rest from all that walking, and just hang out in the room and watch tv before going to bed.

The location is great. It's right beside a mall and the MRT is just nearby. But I'm not a big fan of the MRT so you can always get a cab at the mall.

Looking back, I really think it was a great stay -- It was affordable, clean and comfortable.. which is what budget hotels should be.

Thanks for reading!

Rooms are small but adequate and clean. Front desk staff seemed pleasant enough, but a bit confused about the rates. I now understand that the rates change daily apparently and if you walk in, you will pay more than booking online. If you book way in advance, it’s also cheaper.

The area outside of our room was a big hallway lobby like area, which each floor of the hotel has. I think there are only two hotel floors in the building, which is otherwise used for office space. The smaller rooms are probably a plan in the design of this gateway center for them to be an office, with the hotel idea coming later. It sort of reminded me of a college dormitory that has single rooms. The rooms are not noise proof and any activity next door or in the lobby area outside of your door will be heard, not to mention housekeeping. The wi-fi is in this public lobby area as is a massage place etc. I felt like privacy was compromised in the rooms by the overall set up, acoustics of the room and thin walls. At times we were a bit uncomfortable by that. We found ourselves soft talking so others would not hear us.

Location is okay. Robinson’s, mall is next door and close to the MRT. It is a budget hotel, so do not expect much, but getting the budget rates is all part of the puzzle when booking with them. We only stayed two nights, but would use it again in the future if we can get the lower rates. We know of better rates in Makati though.

I like being in a hotel where one can walk, this place doesn’t fall into that category, except for busy Edsa. The entrance is also crowded with call center employees often times on break or leaving work. It’s a nice average hotel in a busy area that has good connection for getting around by MRT.

To make it worth a recommendation by us, make sure you get a room for P1000 or less. They are not worth much more than that. If you book too closely to arrival, it can cost you as much as P2000, way out of portion for what its worth.

This hotel will go places. WHY? First and foremost, it provides a luxury of a 5 star hotel, very good staff service and very very clean room and lavatory. Budget wise, I recommend this hotel. Location is perfect, near the Robinson's Mall, transportation is much accessible whether going to Makati City, Pasig City, Quezon City or Manila via MRT, taxi or public buses. Special discounts provided almost throughout the year. The only setback is that of the parking wherein you need to pay compare to others which is free.

get the lowest rates online direct from gohotel, this would be at least three months before your trip. accessibility is no problem with the mrt connecting gohotel to either makati, ortigas, north edsa or baclaran. buses abound along edsa and the hotel is right in the middle of edsa right after crossing pasig river (coming fr makati). no frills, just the basics as advertised in their website: comfy bed with four pillows and duvet cover, night light on side tables, 22" lcd tv, safety vault, electronic door locks, nice rainshower, clean towels. mall is just beside hotel where you can get pretty much anything including meals from two to five dollars. the restaurant linked to the hotel also offers delicious meals in that price range. for those with cars, there is a parking fee of 100 pesos though.

Room Tip: mall side or pasig side rooms for peace and quiet
