I made a booking at Agoda website for a 2- day stay in Dusit Thani Manila. After our booking with Agoda, i sent an email directly to the reservation of the hotel requesting if we could checkin early as our flight arrived at 5:00am. After several days of waiting, i have NOT received any response from them. They were surprised when we arrived at the hotel early in the morning of Jan 13,2013. They charged us Php3800 extra for arriving that early in the morning.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and housekeeping didnot replenish the free amenities in the room. The floor was not vacuumed properly and the toilet wasn't cleaned well enough. By the way, they have the smallest bathroom compared to the Intercon Manila's already small bathroom.

The hotel is not as convenient as other hotels in the area if you go shopping as it is the farthest hotel in the Ayala Center and situated in the 'backyard' of Ayala Center. It is not safe to walk at night because fronting the hotel is a multi-level carpark, dimly lit area and the side is fronting the loading dock of SM makati. It is the farthest hotel to Greenbelt precinct too. So it would be wise to stay at other hotels in the area.

Donot take anything from the minibar. A can of Sprite costs AUD$5.50. That is too much! You might as well go to SM grocery and buy Sprite for AUD$0.40 cents. In our case, we were caught up with these things.

Breakfast is par compared to other hotels. It is a buffet breakfast but the selections are quite limited. If you like you coffee, go somewhere else, same goes to hot chocolate.

If you business is within the Ayala Center to include the neighbouring Legaspi Village, i would recommend the following places to stay:
1. Raffles Hotel (newly opened)
2. Fairmont Hotel (newly opened)
3. Holiday Inn (on top of Glorietta Shopping Center) opening in April 2013
4. Shangrila Makati
5. Ascott Residences
6. New World - very close to Greenbelt (rooms quiet tired though)
7. Somerset Millenium at Aguirre Street, Legaspi Village (across Greenbelt)

I have stayed at Dusit Thani, Manila a number of times and I have read so many reviews here that complain, complain, complain - all I can say is that these people are visually challenged.
Sure the place is old and needs a bit of TLC - but the overall experience is excellent.
The staff are very friendly, very helpful and if you treat them as equals an not slaves - will probably do anything you want at any time night and day.
The rooms are spacious, the King beds are a dream, the linen is awesome, the hot water is - well - hot.
The food on offer is top class and plenty of it.
The Gym is great and the pool is a great place to swim and sit and have a few drinks.

Room Tip: Go for the Club series rooms - they are bigger and the Club booking gets you into the Club Lounge from 5pm to 8pm each day for free food and drinks. Rooms are generally quiet - but try and get one at the end of a corridor away from the service room and lifts if you want to sleep in.

My wife and I stayed here 29 December 2012 to 2 January 2013. They entire staff was most accommodating and pampered us during our entire stay. The room and the facilities were excellent. The only negative comment that I have is that there was not adequate space to store out clothes. The breakfast buffet was a bit pricey at $25 per person. We did better ordering ala carte from the Gourmet. We attended the New Year's Eve Cross-Over Event which allowed us to sample the wares of the four restaurants. However, we found this a bit awkward since the restaurants were not all on the same floor. However, I must say that the staff was there to help carry the food. The New Year's celebration was more attuned to a younger crowd and for us was typical of most New Year's Eve parties.
Over-all we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and were particularly appreciative of the efforts of the staff to ensure that our experience was nothing less than the best. We would definitely return to this hotel and we would highly recommend it to all.

Overall pleasant experience. Next to SM Mall but be careful trying to cross the street. Breakfast buffet is not up to par of 5-star hotel in South East Asia. The dinner buffet served at the grandball room is terrible. Plus the service is slow.

Booked for an overnight stay last December 9, 2012. Took the executive suite. Large room, king size bed, rainshower and tub and free breakfast and internet. Had a buffet dinner at Basix. Great food! Overall it was an amazing experience! Looking forward for my next visit
