“Good food in nice setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

Chef Jessie looks unassuming from the outside but the place has great atmosphere. It's private, yet accessible. The service was impeccable. The staff were attentive but in a very discreet an unobtrusive way. The garden salad was nice but nothing spectacular. The spinach-cheese soufflé and the wild rice risotto, on the other hand were a hit. The linguine with prawns and blue cheese sauce were tasty although a bit on the heavy side. This is a lovely place and I will certainly come back.

“Not for Rockwell Club members only”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2014

The name of the restaurant may be irritating, although it is located above the Rockwell Club on the ground floor it is accessible to everyone who can afford it and who is looking for an upscale dining place. The taste of the food is remarkable and the presentation mouthwatering. I had a large portion of steak tartar with toasted bread. Their baguette is extraordinary, you would hardly find a better one in Paris. The service has space for improvement.

“Wow. Totally impressed. A class act.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

Was in Philippines on way back to home from Australia. On business. My partner is from Manila. Recommended we eat at Chef Jessie Rockwell. Totally awesome. Best French Onion soup ever. Main course of duck confit was perfect. Service, setting, quality of wine, food and just overall experience was outstanding. The best part was Chef Jessie coming out to say hi to us at our table. She knew my colleague as he runs a major recruiting firm there. Then leaving she was there to say hi to those leaving. Most memorable experience and outstanding food. Well done.

“good for some things but not all”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013 via mobile

I have very fond memories of this restaurant for fine dining. It is one of the few places in Manila that serves ostrich and duck cooked various ways. During my last visit though the duck confit not only was salty, the potato gratin has a sour tinge to it. This felt strange.
Alas, the biggest disappointment was the grand marnier souffle. After having eaten this flavour of souffle in Paris, i expected Chef Jessie to at least hit the flavour profile of this dish. But here in Manila the alcohol was not burned away leaving a very very bitter taste to this foamy thick curdle of a souffle. This dish should be struck off the menu. Its other souffles were much better flavour wise.
The highlight of the dinner was the freshly baked bread which were really light, airy, and crusty.
