“No Frills But Nice”
Reviewed July 29, 2012 via mobile

If you are looking for a simple hotel with no fancy frills and you just want a place to sleep and bathe then this is a perfect choice and very affordable. We stayed here soon after the hotel opened. The staff is very friendly. They also have excellent security features and personnel. The rooms are basic. The room is small, with a bed, 2 simple nightstands, and a fold down desk. There are no dressers, nor closets. There is a small rack to hang clothes. Unless you get a package deal from the company you book with you must pay for everything like towels, Internet, etc. Also, there are no toiletries in the bathroom, except toilet paper and a hair dryer. The hotel is tucked away in Makati City. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping centers in the area. If you are coming to Manila and don't plan on spending the day in your hotel then Tune Hotel Makati is a good choice! I'd sty again!

I was so happy to stay at a brand new tune hotel, but disappointed that when i arrived construction was still going on!

wrote this email to management:

"Why are you booking a hotel that is still under construction? I can't sleep with all the noise. The hammering woke me up at 9 am. The hammering is quite thunderous as it is a banging sound simultaneously in multiple rooms from all directions above my head non-stop. I booked for 3 days based on your reputation, but I feel quite let down. Last night when I checked in, I was given a room on the 7th floor which reeked of paint smell. Totally not healthy for me. Also room floor was dirty with paint chips. Was told that the floor had just opened that day. Why are you so eager to give the guests a bad experience when the hotel is not yet ready for presentation? I am in room 520. I expect an immediate response. I am not your beta tester. How much to upgrade to a noise-free and smell-free experience?"

received no response after 24 hours. front desk doesn't care. "sorry we just fixing up." no refunds.

customer service costs extra at tune hotel.

why am i writing this review now while i am still staying at the hotel? because i can't sleep due to the noise.

The hotel is not open yet (as at July 2012) but a review of the location of the hotel might be useful for those who would consider this property. It is along Makati Avenue - easy access to the plentiful cabs that ply this route. Makati Ave is heavy with traffic day and night. There are bars and restaurants within a 300m radius but not too many to make it a super busy area. You can take a cab to the Green Belt area for approximately US$2.50 - it is very near but the heat and humidity can take a lot out of you. There are street children begging for money along Makati Avenue. The hotel is located slightly off Makati Avenue (approx. 100m). There is a Marketplace supermarket about 300m from the hotel so you can get almost everything there - milk, bread, biscuits, meat, fruits, washing detergent, water and all the rest of it. It is an air conditioned supermarket so that should give you a bit of relief from the sun. The nearest smallish complex also has all kinds of food should you want to dine out: more medium level to fast-food type. As you can see from the pre-opening building photo I have uploaded, there is no notable scenery of the location in where the hotel is located. I realise the photos on the hotel website currently are artist impressions and I believe this review and photo might put it in better perspective for the future traveller to this property.
[I put an Very Good rating on this property because the hotel is not open, but based on its location primarily.]
