The staff makes this hotel well worth the stay. Excellent value; location near malls and restaurants; staff very accommodating; enjoyed the breakfast buffet included in room rate; nice rooftop pool and bar with great views of the city. Would stay again.

We booked 4 rooms for our friends and family for 4 nights stay.We booked online on their website and lock in the price for 4 days. When we check in,the counter staff told us we will receive further 5% discount. When we check out on last day,we had a shock of my life. The room rate has increased because according to the manager,US$ rate has changed.and we do not have the 5% discount which was promised. When I told them the room rate is confirmed when we book online but the manager told us some stupid reason that the rate will change and they do not charge according to their website .When I asked him if that is their website, she say website rate is different. This is their website http://www.citygardenhotels.com/makati/ .And the so call free internet is so slow,I would rather use my 3G phone to surf.I will never dare to stay in that hotel again.Saw a hotel next to it called St Giles Hotel, looks better.

City Garden Hotel Makati was overall a terrible place to stay. After check-in we discovered that our booking request for a non-smoking room meant nothing. Unbeknownst to us, we were given a smoking room because there were no non-smoking rooms left. When we returned to the reception we were essentially told that our request for a non-smoking room was merely a request and that they didn’t have to act on it. We were also told that there would be no compensation for us staying a smoking room. Both the room and floor reeked of cigarettes so we informed them that would have to cancel our booking and go to another hotel, at which point they somehow found us a non-smoking room. This experience wasn’t limited to us as there was another couple in the same situation. Elsewhere, the Wi-Fi reception was virtually non-existent in the room, the service at breakfast was inconsistent, and there weren’t enough elevators in the hotel. These last few complaints are a little trivial but our experience at check-in (with the only rude people we met in the Philippines) affected the remainder of our stay. And on a final note the hotel is located in a bad part of town for anyone not interested in the sex trade.

Stayed here for my sister's wedding and celebration.
Superb service from the professional staff (front office and food and beverage).
The assistance needed for the wedding celebration was perfectly delivered.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the highest floor for a nice view.

This place is clean with large rooms. It is in a better part of Manila....but still don't expect footpaths on the side of the roads outside! It's a good place to take refuge from the heat and ugliness outside. It's about 20 mins from the airport. Despite the reputed traffic problems in manila we didn't have any issues as there is a toll to the airport which bypasses a lot if traffic. If you are staying in Manila -don't hesitate this is a great choice unless you have the budget for Mand.oriental which is beautiful inside! Get in and get out -Manila is the most awful place I have ever seen! Breakfast is not great here-stale bread is heartbreaking after a long overnight flight!
