A wonderful 3 days where had at tiara. The staff where friendly and it's a really quaint hotel. It's hard to find but very good value for money.

No complaints from me - its very good value as I had a lot of late nights - coming home was a breeze. Guests were allowed to come into the hotel and there was no curfews unlike other hotels.

Spent a night here with my girlfriend 4 years ago - so this review is very very late.

First impressions: its old, musky, but still serviceable. This hotel has seen better days.

When i say serviceable, I mean, it's okay if your not picky. The rooms are large enough (I got one with a separate living room and sofa), its furnished like a proper hotel (wall-to-wall carpetting, bathrooms are hotel-standard, a tv and a ref, safe, etc..), and its not that expensive. You will see some telltale cigarette burns on the table edges and the carpet at times, but it is not by any means dilapidated. This would be a good hotel for someone travelling on business for long periods, as its cheap enough and serviceable enough like a proper hotel. It's just old and musky.

All in all, the stay was good. We ordered room service, watched tv, and slept like babies.

chose this hotel bcoz it's pretty close (walking distance) to the German Embassy we had to visit. Also Canadian, Australian and Taiwanese (?) Embassy at the same distance. Somewhat isolated from traffic, it's a quiet place which offers a reasonable comfort even if it might have seen better times. In our room (906) the water kettle did not work, for hot shower water we had to call the maintenance which came promptly but could resolve the problem only partly, the bedside radio could not completely be switched off, so we had some very low voices talking to us all night long. Furthermore, the aircon ventilator was a bit noisy. The bed was huge (kingsize) and the mattress was excellent.
A very strange thing: in a double room with double occupancy, there is only 1 breakfast included; the bf for the 2nd person had to be payed for extra. Bf was served on the table and it was quite ok.
If we had to visit one of the above mentioned embassies again, we would chose this hotel again

We booked a junior suite for the bridal shower of our friend. We were about 10 in the group.

First impression - Location was okay although Malugay St. gets really flooded during typhoons. No security check of bags. No attendant to welcome us when we entered the hotel. Hotel is old and musty. Junior suite is cheap for P3900/night given its size. Bed is not comfortable. Room is clean.

The hotel must have been suffering from low occupancy that weekend because no one complained of our noise or music. We were expecting the front desk to remind us to tone down our noise but they did not.

The problem began with their 11pm curfew. We started getting calls from the front desk telling us about their 11pm curfew for guests. We kept trying to explain to them that we were all leaving in a hour or so and that most of us are just waiting for our partners to pick us up from the hotel. (The guys left for their own stag party). Despite our explanation, the front desk kept calling to shoo us away. Apparently the fee for overstaying guests is P800/person.

That's when I got really ticked off. Tiara Oriental was the only hotel I've stayed in that has curfews and overstaying fees for guests. It's not a college dormitory or a five star hotel but they were very strict about the curfew thing.

Second, there was no mention of the 11pm curfew in the long list of house rules printed and displayed in the room. Also, the P800 fee I saw was for an extra bed for an additional person.

We decided to cut short our party and just leave the hotel. We were already packing up when one of our companions told us that the security guard is already outside our room. He was with an attendant holding a calculator and logbook. What a way to harass guests!

For sure, none in our group will recommend a stay in this hotel. We believe that they could have handled the situation better.

I recently was booked into this hotel by our distributor which is in a building just opposite of this hotel. If you are not on a budget and also do not need to be in that location I would advice to look for other options. The hotel itself is ok for its class however I do not think it is suitable for business. The internet there is very poor. We purchased a prepaid internet option but it did not work at all. I was upgraded to a junior suite which is large and comfortable. The place is ok clean but the lobby does smell of disinfectant. Did not see any roaches but did see at least 3 roach traps in my room.

Check in was uneventful and was rather swift but check out was a bit messy and took some time. Breakfast was so so and not something to write about.

So all in all ok for the price and location but if you need to stay a few more days then I suggest to look for options.
