I was at the Peninsula for three days on a business trip. The hotel lobby is fantastic and is where I meet business associates. I love breakfast there.
Rooms are nice, but the hotel is starting to show its age. My first room was on the top floor of the left wing. Huge, but next to what sounded the outside unit of the air con system. The "whoosh" sound kept me awake all night.
The second room was much quieter except that when the people in the room above mine went to the toilet, I could hear the water running.
A major plus is the availability of multiple power points.
Overall, it is a great hotel with friendly and efficient staff.

Nice location coupled with splendid amenities that include a great fitness room, awesome breakfast buffet, efficient service and good value for money. Manila Pen is a better option for its historical significance as well - a better choice for the first time Manila traveller

I was lucky enough to stay there on 3 different occasions in a span of three weeks. The property is beautiful, the service is outstanding. They even had a 24 hour nurse available. AND they were nice enough to send a birthday cake. They checked my passport and must've noticed. Now that is service. There's a lovely pool and a spacious gym. I wish they were open later, but that is a minor issue. We had breakfast at Escolta and dinner at Spices. And cocktails at The Bar. All were fantastic. In close proximity to a shopping mall and the Ayala Museum (I think that's the name). I hope I get to stay here again.

We stayed in the Grand Deluxe Room for 3 nights earlier this week, booked under the 'Two eggs in a basket' promotion. As part of the room package we were given free servings of 4 Halo Halo (a type of desert) which were delicious albeit a bit too sweet.

The lobby hall was really magnificent with classical music played live every night. Its like a mini orchestra. I have read about this in many reviews but you really have to be there to experience and enjoy it. Check-in was fast and we were even escorted by the reception staff to our room.

The room was spacious and very clean. Since it was located at the corner of the building there are 2 windows. Bed was comfortable but since one of the window is facing the main road the loud traffic hons may disturb your sleep.

Buffet breakfast at Escolta has great variety of food. They even serve Japanese food i.e. sushi and sashimi. You can also get freshly baked bagels and other delicious pastries. And washed with freshly made juices.

The security checks at the entrance of the hotel is rather tight, which is good as it makes you feel safe staying at the hotel. There is even a K-9 unit there where all luggage has to be 'sniffed' to ensure they do not contain dangerous goods/explosives.

Overall we had a great stay at the hotel. The staff were really polite and served with great services. We will be back to this hotel again in our next visit to Manila.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the main roads to avoid traffic noises.

When you walk into the ludicrously grand atrium, complete with string quartet playing on the mezzanine, it's funny to think of the tanks rolling in during the 2007 (bloodless) siege that took place here.
But the bullet holes in the marble are no more so you can concentrate on unashamed luxury. Every member of staff is smiling, helpful and confident rather than meek and servile. My room was big and welcoming with white fabrics and dark wood units. The bathroom was magnificently marbly with separate shower and wc.
As well as a great range of restaurants and bars (particularly the poolside barbecue) the stand out feature is the gym. Usually i'm the only person in a hotel gym but not this time. Guests and ex-pat residents come here for the brand new equipment including lots of cardio and weight machines and my favourite: kettle bells.
If your muscles ache as a result, go to the small but sleek spa for a massage.
The location is good for business and shopping and Makati seems to be completely safe to walk around.
