New World is undergoing some major renovation and once it`s done, I think would be a really nice hotel. But compared to Dusit Thani and how much it cost to stay there, I would definitely choose New World, hands down. The only thing that gives an edge to Dusit is their breakfast buffet, which has more selection and I think better quality. The rooms at New World is more spacious, especially the bathroom. We were upgraded to an executive deluxe and felt really comfortable staying there. I would highly recommend this property, especially because it`s just across Greenbelt and all the nice restaurants in Makati.

The executive club lounge was good, with free internet, friendly staff, and a full bar and buffet late afternoon. Breakfast was at M2M, and there was a lot of choice. The hotel staff are always corteous. Rooms were dated, but spacious and with a plasma TV and separate shower stall. Meeting rooms are conveniently located above the lobby level. The location was superb, it's just across from Greenbelt 3, which made it very easy for us to go for meals and late night drinks. 7-Eleven is a few minutes walking distance from the hotel.

Spent 4 nights here Oct/Nov 2012. We had booked an executive room more by accident, but were blown away by the executive club lounge. Free internet, free soft drinks and light snacks all day, very friendly staff, and a full bar and buffet late afternoon. The one thing I would wish for is that they have a dress code for the lounge. There were some slightly obnoxious people in sports shorts and jandals in there one evening, which spoilt the experience for me. We had our breakfasts in the main restaurant, as the choice was a lot bigger (incl basic sushi, noodle soups etc), but you really did not need any other food than breakfast and late afternoon buffet. Good wines, even sparkling, and International spirits included. The staff are always corteous. Rooms not outstanding, but spacious and with a lovely shower. Can't wait to return!

Room tip: Go for executive club if you can

I was recommended this hotel by colleagues for its proximity to the Greenbelt malls, for the shopping and food experience. Truly so, the location is a highlight.
The rooms were basic and surely dated, but I experienced the transformation of their lobby and entrance firsthand and the result clearly showed that given time, this not so ugly duckling is going to be a fine swan!
Breakfast spread is nice and the Filipino hospitality is warm, courteous and helpful. The staff smiles all the time and even helps with pocket change for the cabs which they hail for you. Way to go!

There a plenty of great hotels Makati, with the latest addition, The Fairmont opening in December 2013. The New World hotel is an old property ,currently undergoing renovations. The only thing this hotel has speaking for it is the location, the staff are not trying hard enough and while they are all eager to greet all the time, the hospitality ends there. This is a three star hotel at best.

I d try the Fairmont next time
