I only stayed here one evening and the hotel is going through a major renovation on the exterior. That construction is set to be completed in November or December of 2012.
I stayed in a standard room which was very comfortable with a great bed and had everything I needed. The hotel service was outstanding, almost too much.
I will return as I am curious to see the place after the renovation and I love that its located directly across from Greenbelt 3 which is great shopping and restaurants.

My sister-in-law booked 3 rooms in advance, for her trip here to Manila with her family, and wanted a place to stay while we did some shopping around the metro. Unfortunately, the stay here was not as we expected from a star hotel.
From the moment we stepped inside, things went wrong. The exterior of the hotel looks that of an 1980's Makati office building. Nothing to differentiate it from the office buildings that line up this busy commercial district. The interior design of the lobby was elegant and deserves note, with a staircase to the right, leading to the ballrooms, at the mezzanine floor. The drawback, was that there were not enough seats on the lounge to accommodate parties of guests waiting to be issued their rooms.
It was upon checking our booked rooms that we found out, the poor service of handling our reservation. After a lengthy verification, we were given our room keys, on 3 rooms on different floors?! As we dragged our luggage from the concierge to the room, I cant help but wonder, where's the courtesy room valet?
REALLY?
Well, he wasn't there to greet me when we came in, and until we checked out.. Sigh.
The room where i stayed was average at best. Nothing fancy. just a typical hotel room. Sheets were a bit itchy around my legs at night. My sister-in-law and her family got it worst when the room assigned to them was beside the utility room, with maintenance guys where working on some repairs and creating a lot of noise. enough for them to storm out and request to be transferred to another room.
Valet parking was typical, but a customary fee should have been waived in light of the guests staying at the hotel. But i guess, that's money all the same to them. It was a strategic advantage and a nice feeling to have the hotel right around the posh Ayala mall district, which gave us a lot of shopping time around the area.

If there was one thing that brought a smile to my face, was the Breakfast buffet, that was complete with all the different types of breakfast food you can eat. I admit, i must have gained a few just because i always came back for more.

Finally, on our last day, I managed to get to the gym to burn some calories, and liked the facility. It was a shame though, that i didn't have more time to enjoy it.

All in all, a rather unique experience, as we left the hotel, we brought along our shopping bags and our luggage with us to the cars, as we began to leave the place, i know, there are a lot more places to stay, with a little bit more courtesy than here.

Room Tip: Rooms on the North Side, show the architectural design of the Ayala Mall district, makes for a nice...

We spent a few nights at New World between a trip to Boracay. We wanted a 'nicer' hotel, and to be honest, it was the 'mystery hotel' booked on Asiarooms.com (thanks TA forum!). This was our first time to the Philippines.

Airport:
It's about 15-20 mins from the airport. Pay the toll fee to use the 'skyway'-much more efficient. Also, if at all possible, try to schedule your flights to avoid rush hour traffic. We were scammed at the airport. We had read numerous posts about the taxi drivers ripping off tourists, and we were determined to not let it be us. We decided to go to the taxi stand, and an man approached us - with airport ID-who offered to help us find the taxi stand location. Long story short, even though he had an ID badge indicating he worked for the airport, and took us to the taxi stand, his pay for taxi in advance was more like a private rental car service. Oops. SO - when we pulled into the hotel, and I felt the amount seemed high, we asked the check in clerk who, although her eyes bulged out, was very calm in explaining we had paid 4x as much as we should have. Crappy for us, right? BUT - here is where New World shines in customer service. She personally contacted the company (thankfully we kept our receipt) and by the time we checked out, we had a cash refund from the company. Unheard of!

Location - Excellent! Literally right across the street from Greenbelt mall. We have stayed in many hotels in Las Vegas -which is why it felt like the US. The staff are fluent in English, the mall had most stores we had at home (Zara, Mango) plus a few other ones, and many places to eat, for various budgets (a nice change from being limited to hotel pricier food ) like California Pizza Kitchen. It felt like staying in North Vegas Strip near Fashion Mall.

Security - no fears! It's a little intimidating at first to pull up and have your cab searched by a drug sniffing dog, and to have your bags looked through (purses included) every time you re-enter the hotel, but it does mean there are no security 'problems'. The neighbourhood itself felt very safe, even the mall area in the evening, with many families walking about.

Rooms - surprisingly huge! Excellent adjustable air-con, tons of tv options, bathroom is spacious and includes hair dryer, robes and slippers for two, and one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept on in my travels.

Pool - large, with plenty of loungers available. There is a lovely section with plants to help beautify the somewhat industrial feeling some larger hotel pools have. No views, but somehow you manage to feel 'away' from the city, which can be nice.

Breakfast - The best breakfast buffet I've ever had, including many 5* Vegas hotels known for their buffets. Fresh juice/smoothie station, 'Western' section - bacon, eggs, omelettes, sausages, eggs to order, tomatoes, etc., 'Cold' section - salads, smoked fish (yummy!!), Pancakes/Waffles with fresh mangos made to order; Sushi station, Dim Sum station, other 'Chinese' section, and a section for fresh pastries. Everything was excellent that we had on our plates. No big lines either. This alone is a reason to pick this hotel.

Other tip: As we stayed before and after Boracay, and the luggage limits to Boracay are VERY small compared to international travel, the hotel held our large luggage for us at no charge allowing us to repack to fit luggage limits.

In sum: large rooms, nice pool area, plenty of shopping/eateries in walking distance, phenomenal breakfast buffet, and some of the best customer service we've ever encountered.

the first thing we appreciated about our superior room at the new world was its size. considering this was their lowest-priced room, it was quite spacious and bright. loved that.

besides this, the room looks like any generic hotel of this class. nothing in the decor or color gave it an outstanding personality. branding-wise, there's nothing there. which means it's not much of an "experience" so to speak.

the bathroom is also of an older design. and the shower strangely short.

but this hotel is very comfortable. some of the best pillows ever! and the robe and slippers! all very thick and fluffy. the bedside central control was also very convenient. all these contributed to the new world being just right for our purpose (there was a wine fest downstairs and we didn't want to risk driving home drunk and so we needed a good, quiet, comfortable night's sleep).

we didn't have the breakfast. so can't comment there. but the staff performance was very good, very professional. and, like most over-$100/night hotels, they don't need to troll the minibar when you go. they just ask you. no use spoiling relationships over a can of coke.

the location makes this hotel a winner. but perhaps solid renovation is in order especially with the raffles being built just around the corner.

Room Tip: there's ongoing renovation so ask about that and make sure you're not too close to the const...

I agree with the last review probably not the best time to stay with all the renovations, but I definitely don't agree with the review from JAVI0907.

I have stayed at this hotel twice now and have enjoyed everytime. The staff were very friendly and they even remembered us from our stay over a year ago! I always felt safe, and the buffet was filling! Close to shops, taxis come straight to the door and close enough to the airport. Beds were comfortable and I will always come back to stay here :)

Room Tip: Bring your swimwear!

Good location, but they are renovating this place. It looks like it is so small now. The rooms looks very dark. Not the same hotel I used to go to anymore. They do not have many staff to attend to you and it seems there are more security than staff. The room we got was below average and the view, I did not even take a second look outside, was demolished buildings.

Room Tip: do not go there rigth now.
