“Cook your own Food”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

This review is for Tong Yang in Greenhills, the one in the Promenade mall. Can't seem to find it in the website.

Anyway, Tong Yang is one of those restos that you can cook your own food via hot pot or BBQ. I like the idea of the hot pot being that you can select your own soup, I selected Sinigang (my personal favorite). The best part of the hot pot is you can throw in any meat or vegies you like (Try putting some red meat on that and you'll be surprised). For the BBQ they have a wide range of meat selection, they do have this meat cutter that cuts the meat thinly that you can cook ur own bacon! Drinks was Okay, you have options for juices, softrinks and a beer draft.

Besides the cooking, everything else was.. meh.. palatable but not that tasty.. Price was Okay, around 500php+ per head with drinks.

“You can eat bbq and hot pot, but not so good”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

The only plus is that you have the option to eat both bbq and hot pot.

Other than that there is nothing good to say. If you want beef you have to go up to a counter to have them cut for you, but they are always conveniently not behind the counter. When they give you 2-3 plates, you only get a few slices of beef on each plate.

Their chicken tastes bad for some reason, they have a lot of fish, and the octopus tastes good.

There is no good prepared buffet food. It all is cheap and nasty, so don't expect anything other than the hotpot and bbq.

If you want good beef or lamb you have to pay extra each time, or you will get the worst cut of beef.

When you eat hot pot the most important thing is the sauce. Here they have no chinese sesame sauce, just japanese soy sauce based sauces, a weird peanut sauce that is watery and a few other sauces, none are great, except for the Japanese sauce which is not that popular outside of Japan and the Philippines because it is just not as good as korean and chinese hot pot sauces....

Price is around 600 per person for dinner. There are a lot of buffets in Manila for this price point that are much better.

“maybe my last”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

I think it is good value for money to pay p400 for a buffet, but what can they offer you for 400? If you like to stuff yourself with food, then this is okay. If you can afford better quality, eat elsewhere. If you like Shabu shabu, go for Gloriamaris or Choi`s Garden.

“Good Grill. Bad Exhaust”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

It is a buffet, grill and shabu shabu restaurant rolled into one. Fresh sea food, chicken and meat choices are available for this unique, cook it yourself place. Mix your own sauce and dips. But, be prepared of leaving the place smelling like, what you ate. Improve your exhaust please.
