“Great variety of Tapas”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

The list of tapas on the menu is amazing. we have chosen a few typical Spanish Tapas, such as Chorizo Rioja, or Jamon Serano among others. They were delicious. But the downside of it is the price. For a few taps as a snack for 3 pax we ended up with a bill of PHP 2,000 and that is a lot for a snack only.

“Great Paella tip from server”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

The best part of a Paella dish is the slightly over cooked rice near the surface of the pan. It is crispy and has all the flavor of the Paella. This was the dining tip given to us by our server. She was right. It might indeed arguably be the best part of a Paella dish. We were seated outside though because it was filled up inside so we did not get to enjoy the ambience. They serve the usual Spanish dishes (Lengua, Paella, etc). The place looks like a nice place to have an expensive drink. All in all, we found the menu and experience not bad.

“Outside, they're missing the ambiance and the rest of the menu!”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

Cerveseria is more known as a tapas and drinks place, but it extends to restaurant service. The idea is study the whole menu, then focus, don't try to order everything. So for a Valentine's dinner, we started with crushed tomatoes on olive oiled bread, asparagus a la plancha, salad of lentils and walnuts, croquetas de cod (excellent, like brandade de morue). Then we shared main courses of Marcilla, Gambas ala ajillo, and salpicao (tenderloin bits briefly sautéd in garlic).

Marcilla which was supposed to be a blood sausage, like a boudin, turned out to be a disappointment, it was actually a chorizo stuffed with dried blood, sliced and then grilled in a thick oil of chorizo fat and garlic. This of course, killed the boudin taste and drowned it in a sea of chorizo lard. Better to grill the sausages 'dry,' pricked with little holes to let out the grease, then fry with garlic pieces. The Salpicao was excellent and very tender, trick is to ask the cook to make it medium rare! Gambas also delicious.

To its credit, Cerveseria has a long list of wines and most at very reasonable prices. Best to try a Spanish wine. There were two Marques de Caceres wines, one from 2010 (sold at 1300 pesos or $32), the other a reserve of 2008, with a higher price of 1800 pesos ($44). Believe me, the price difference was well worth it. The reserve is a delicate wine that goes down like a French dry wine. But give it 15 minutes to settle its nervosity and calm down to your temperature. A second choice on the wine list would have been a 2009 New Zealand Merlot called Pebble Creek at 1300 pesos.

Ironically, this restaurant has not been getting the reviews it deserves. It has a large terrace outdoors which attracts smokers and beer drinkers who accompany their drinks with tapas and this is as far as most of them get, hence, of course, not very satisfactory, and these reviewers have only tasted a tenth of the restaurant.

The ambiance is also quiet and inspires tete à tete type of talking as opposed to its raucous neighbors and this is right in the heart of Greenbelt 3 a noise hub of Makati. Inside, the aula is cooled by two large aircons and a floor to ceiling bookcase opens to a private room. this place has ambiance.

So for a pleasant social evening, the higher price is justified.
