Reviewed February 23, 2014

i arrived for the first time in the philippines and checked in to our melting pot (OMP)
it was the right choise for me because i stayed in a few hostels before but never had this familiar feeling like in this place.
the staff is so friendly and helpfull, if you have any questions for planing your trip they wont hesitat to help you and give you the best recommodations where to go..the rooms are clean and with aircon and also breakfast is included.
a free tour to old manila was avaiable with one of the staff.

you won't hear the noise of the busy makati avenue in front of the OMP.
i liked the location there are plenty of restarants and also some 7 elevens near the hostel..after finishing her shift i went out with elvi( one of the staff) to play some pool...keep on training elvi hehe :-))
always will come back if i'm in manila again someday..great job guys...greetings winney from germany

The atmosphere, friendliness of staff, location, cleanliness and location are the principal things I look for in a great hostel and OMP excels in each. The staff make this place a familiar home away from home, giving fantastic tips for places to go and things to do in Manila and even organising free tours of the old part of the city in-house for guests only. Wi-fi is fast and reliable, everywhere is clean, atmosphere is chilled and super friendly and there are free lockers if you bring your own padlock.

The only thing you could say against OMP is that it is coming close to outgrowing its current location due to its popularity. Once it moves into a bigger location, there'll be more space for the travellers who want to stay and more space in the break out areas for different recreation activities.

I loved it and i'll definitely be back when I next come to Manila.

so first time in the philippines..a friend recommended and couldnt be happier! everyone says this but they do act like family here..from organizing free tours, pub crawls and activites to awesomw family breakfasts and endless maps and advice. the staff is incredibly friendly, dorms clean, nice common area, good wifi and access to kitchen, fridge and hot showers...they even supply water and real free coffee. pretty much the only drawback was no free towel and evening noise but that's due to their central location...unavoidable if you want quick and easy access in the city.

one of the staff Chateau, really knows her stuff and is an endless source of advice..i even emailed her along the way after i left manila and she helped out! this place really shows you the hospitality you will find in the philippines and after having met the staff and stayed here twice i highly recommend because you feel like they care.

check out their new location in el nido soon!

Room Tip: the 6 dorm is quieter at night!

I always stay in Our Melting Pot hostel in all my Manila trips. I love the homey atmosphere, the staffs are nice, the place is clean and they have excellent wifi connection. In addition, it is accessible to everything you need and I mean totally everything with the mall across the street, 7 eleven at the side, malls just a walk away and the transit stations are nearby. They also give reasonable room rates!! I would gladly recommend this hostel to everyone!!

It was my second time to stay ay OMP whilst waiting for my flight back to UK.

The ambiance was really perfect. There were lots of guests from all over the world where you can have great conversations about life and travel.

Very accommodating and helpful staff. Location's a plus as malls are just nearby.

There is a nice homey feel to this place and I've met a lot of very excellent people here, both travelers passing through and the super helpful staff. Its the best place to start your trip in the Philippines cause so many people are constantly arriving and then heading off to spectacular destinations around the Philippines with the recommendations of the knowledgable staff. The Philippines is an easy place to get ripped off, so it's nice that the hostel has connections to refer you to in many many places. They really go over the top with their hospitality, even offering free tours of the city. They have nightly activities as well.

Besides that, its just a nice place. It is in the safest part of Manila, in Makati, the metropolitan area, there is also a guard at the entrance to the building. There is a giant mall within walking distance and a park too. There are clubs and things around. It's kept clean. There is a roof deck you can go up on and look out on the city. There is a free breakfast which is simple, but yum. They also cook eggs and pancakes every other day or something like that.

I'm mostly writing because I can't believe how many good reviews this place has. As a long term traveler, hostel stayer, backpacker - this place just kinda sucks. It's a fine layout and fine rooms but it's so loud that I can't understand how they don't have more complaints. We booked a private room and when we arrived the man swore we had booked dorm rooms - not a private room. When we checked our email confirmation we saw that it was in fact a private room we booked. We couldn't get them to change our room and instead ended up in bunk beds with loud dance music from the strip clubs below. The window had been broken at some point so they'd jammed some old styrofoam in the window to keep it from falling out. The result of which is basically feeling like the windows are open ALL the time. They were overbooked so they really didn't care that they'd messed up our reservations or that we couldn't sleep with the noise.
