I cannot fault this place. The food was great, the service was great and it was also where we got engaged! A perfect restaurant that is able to stand out from the crowd, even in the greenbelt area where there is so much choice. The portion size was perfect and the steak was brilliant. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for fine dining in the Makati area.

Great location right across from both the Peninsula and the Shangri-La. The ambience and décor was modern and most attractive. Service was first class. The menu was interesting and varied. I had the octopus followed by the lamb chops, both of which were superb. A little pricey but worth it.

Had an unpleasant dinner at this restaurant: the waiters were rude as they interrupted conversations as well as guests who were studying the menu. Incidentally entres were grossly overpriced.

Sala had been on our dining list for quite a while, and yesterday it finally materialized. What can I say - we deeply regretted that it had taken us so long: A recently renovated, beautiful restaurant, an exquisite international cuisine with a Mediterranean touch by Scottish chef Colin Mackay (who owns/runs three more restaurants in TripAdvisor's Makati Top 10 - chapeau!), and a fantastic staff who is almost too attentive: At the beginning of our tasting menu we hadn't even finished half of our champagne when the waiter already poured the wine for the first course. But after we asked them to slow down a bit everything went on perfectly.

Since Sala's website is not (yet?) very informative here's our menu which came at 3400 Pesos:

Blue swimmer crab, sweet shrimp, apple and mustard remoulade;

Grilled octopus, roast fennel, rocket (a lot!), hazelnut, chili and orange;

Potato gnocchi, bacon, Jerusalem artichokes, mushroom and hazelnuts;

Grilled Colorado lamb cutlet with sweet peppers, spiced tomatoes and white bean cassoulet
(my lucky wife, who doesn't eat lamb, got wagyu filet instead at a modest surcharge, but thankfully she shared some with me because my lamb was a bit dry);

Orange blossom panna cotta, biscotti crumbs, apricot and thyme sorbet

Petit fours (plural only valid if you count one each as two)

The accompanying wines were not extravagant but matched their respective dishes very well (you can't expect Grand Crus if the wine pairing costs you 1450 Pesos).

However, we didn't really like the way the tables were cramped together, at least along the wall on the left, with just enough space in between to allow a person to get through. If you sit so close you can't help overhearing everything - thankfully, at least on one side, we had a couple who mostly corresponded silently with or through their cellphones.
