I spent a night here in November. I arrived early at 9 a.m. but I was not allowed to check in. I was told I could check in early if my room was available, it wasn't at the time, so fair enough.
The package that I bought included access to the infinity pool and the fitness centre but when I requested access, the staff wouldn't take me to the shower room to let me shower and change after a 14 hour flight. Instead, I was taken to the staff's cramped changing room where I was able to do my business.
The hotel is located in a seedy part of Makati surrounded by cheap massage parlours and some even seedier looking bars. There were squatters around the area. Looking at the hotel's website and photos and the price that they charge, you wouldn't have believed it was in such a bad location.
I was given a reasonably sized studio type bedroom. It had a queen-sized bed that is comfortable enough. The sheets and the duvet looked reasonably clean. The room looked really cheap for Php6000 per night. It was cheaply furnished with IKEA type furniture. The wallpaper was starting to peel off. The bathroom had mildew. There seemed to be a problem with plumbing as the bath tub, the kitchen and the bathroom sinks took a long time to drain. The air-conditioner was very noisy, I had to shut it off so I could sleep. There was a hole in the wall that was plastered with plywood. The window screen was dusty. The curtains were also dusty and stained.
The breakfast buffet was completely unimpressive. The food was bland, tasteless and cold.
If this place has a saving grace, it's probably the Toccare Spa. It is open late so if you're jet lagged and you're unable to sleep, that can be a good thing. The staff were very attentive and the massage therapist I had was well trained. There was a sauna and a hot tub too. What I didn't like about it though is that they have a TV tuned to the latest Filipino soap opera in full blast inside the sauna and the remote was nowhere to be found so I could turn it off. When I got to the foot massage area, there was another TV tuned to another soap opera. The therapist was watching it with the sound in full blast while she was giving me a foot massage. I asked the therapist to turn it off so I could have some peace and quiet. She did turn it off but she seemed quite upset by that, she gave me the death stare.
My advise, go somewhere else. There are a lot of better places to stay for the same price in Makati.
