Love the view, love the food. Great place to go for a special event. Specials of the day are always unique with organic and/or locally grown foods. Modest wine list, but very nice. Great desserts. Great place for a special occasion

Elderberry Pond Restaurant was discovered quite by accident in the summer of 2008 as four family members embarked on a genealogical journey to track down details of grandparents who settled in Auburn prior to WWI. One of our members was celebrating a birthday and after conducting our family research we asked for suggestions for dinner. Were we ever impressed. So when in the fall of 2011 two of the original 2008 travellers were heading to Seneca Falls for the 2011 National Women's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, we planned to return to Elderberry Pond Restaurant, this time for lunch.

Picture a bucolic setting with a field of welcoming sunflowers near the winding entrance to the restaurant. Clear crispy air fills your lungs with signs of fall all around. If the words organic, sustainable, and local drive your dining decisions, then Elderberry Pond is a perfect choice. From the appetizers, to wine offerings, to main course selections, to dessert, the bounty of the farm is evident in all dishes. The setting is so calming and unhurried. The service complements the setting and menu items. After the meal, stroll over to the farm store and stock up on handmade jams - especially Elderberry, not generally available in the midwest - and select a bag of honey crisp apples to take home. The only item missing was a hammock linking the apple trees in which to catch a nap and dream in the sunlight. What a memorable afternoon.

Having eaten at the Elderberry Pond in the past we knew we would have a good meal but this night was great. There was a special "Dickens Christmas" price fix menu. All four of us took advantage of this. First course was a choice of potato/leek soup or apple walmut salad. The soup was hot and flavorful, and the salad was wonderful with their own apples sliced up in it. THe entrees were a choice of Roast Turkey or Prime Rib. The turkey and dressing were outstanding... delicious stuffing and tender breast meat with mashed potatoes and squash. The prime rib was top quality with only minimal fat and cooked as ordered. Dessert choices were an apple cake, a flourless chocolate cake and a plate of cookies. They were all wonderful, and the cookie plate included a decadent piece of fudge. Each meal was only $35 an incredable value

We were a family group of 8 including 2 children under 4. We were greeted and seated by friendly staff and found the entire experience from service to food to be the perfect Sunday afternoon in a beautiful rural setting. The staff were knowledgeable about special dietary needs. Our waitress told us that she personally picked the organic blueberries in our lemon blueberry mousse dessert that very morning. Be sure to follow their online directions because it can be hard to find using conventional navigation aids.

We opted to sit on the sun porch and were very happy that we did. The ambiance with Fall so prominently around us only added to our experience. We both got the heirloom cider to drink, not surprisingly it didn't let us down. They grow over a hundred varieties in their orchard, though I believe only four are in this lovely concoction. I ordered a cup of the Autumn Harvest soup which came with a dollop of creme fraiche on top. It was scrumptious! I recommended it to another diner who deemed it "Heaven on Earth!" I couldn't disagree :-) My husband ordered and thoroughly enjoyed the special wrap - tuna salad with cheddar and lettuce. I had their penne pasta off the menu. It was a perfect balance of sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, feta, mushrooms, eggplant and artichoke hearts. The two breads in our basket were a molassesy brown bread and slices of a French baguette style which was absolutely perfect for sopping up my pasta sauce. We also had dessert, though my husband was perfectly happy to skip it. He's glad he didn't. He ordered and loved the special apple cake with whipped creme. I chose and enjoyed the apple creme brulee with caramel sauce. OMG, what a satisfying meal! The biggest drawback of this wonderful restaurant is that it isn't open year round. Nor is the store (open even less). We stopped in after our meal and purchased 3 kinds of squash - which I made into a wonderful soup for our dinner last night. We also bought a bag of apples which we're still enjoying and a pumpkin which I have readied for our pies in a couple of weeks. Don't miss this gem! YUM!!
