“Best Kept Secret in Auburn”
Reviewed April 7, 2009

Fran & Duffy are wonderful hosts and will make you feel welcome. Make sure that you order the beans and greens to start off with, or try the calamari as an appetizer. Their veal saltimbocca is amazing, in fact any veal dish on their menu is. If you are looking for a great steak, try the beef bordelaise. The bordelaise sauce is rich and tasty with mushrooms. Piled high onto this are delicate deep fried onions that have been sliced thin and dusted in flour & spices. They compliment the bordelaise perfectly.

For dessert try the tiramisu or Duffy's homemade crème brule!

“A very fine restaurant offering excellent value”
Reviewed March 27, 2009

Fran and Duffy are the most congenial hosts you'll ever find that serve
up some of the most scrumptious dishes you can imagine.

The filets are especially good and are my favorite - the bernaise sauce
is awesome. Another favorite is the pasta with bolgnese sauce. Lots of
great choices. The salads are incredible and well worth it. The menu
is diverse, filled with tantalyzing dishes that make it hard to decide.
Whatever you decide, you can be sure that your dish will be created with
all the experience of a master chef.

Bring a healthy appetite - the portions are very generous. I guarantee
you won't leave hungry. Great people, great food, fair prices, what
more could you ask for? Auburn is fortunate to have this excellent restaurant.

“Great meals, great ambience.”
Reviewed January 24, 2009

Michael's is one of the best of the best restaurants in Auburn. The menu has a nice variety, mostly but not all, Italian dishes and all cooked perfectly. We've never had a mediocre meal there. Duffy, the owner, is omnipresent both in the kitchen and checking with diners about their meals. Service is excellent. It's small and intimate which makes for a nice dining experience; soft music, soft lights. Just plan ahead and make reservations.

“Michael's Restaurant”
Reviewed September 14, 2007

Small owner-run gem of a restaurant. Duffy, the owner/chef, has cooked all over Europe and America. Returned to his home town and opened this eatery. The capacity is fairly small, so reservations are recommended. I had the tenderloin of beef medalions which were well-prepared and delicious. My wife had one of the veal specialties which was superb. Generous portions, you won't leave hungry.

The baby grand player piano in the corner takes up some space that could be used to increase seating, but provides a distinct ambiance that Muzak cannot match and clearly indicates that this is a matter of love over money, just like the food. There is also a small bar for having a drink while awaiting a table.

We will be returning to Auburn soon and will definitely eat at Michael's again.
