Reviewed December 26, 2013

For the second straight year, we went to Manaoag and headed straight to Baguio afterwards. We stayed at a different place last year because The Manor was fully booked. Luckily, we were able to book this year since we went a week earlier just before the busy long weekend. We initially booked a 2-bedroom suite so that our family can stay together. However, there seemed to have been a problem when we re-confirmed during the day itself. We were instead given a deluxe room as well as a 1-bedroom suite. It was still all good.

Parents stayed at the 1-bedroom suite facing the back of the hotel grounds. This by far has the best views for me and you can open the balcony to have a nice view of the garden. Other amenities include a small kitchen with dining area, couches, a flat screen TV, powder room and a bathroom (aside from the one inside the bedroom). This room was really spacious and we enjoyed staying there. Our room was located opposite of the 1-bedroom suite which faced the front of the hotel with a forest view. The deluxe room we stayed at is still quite huge compared to other hotel standards. It even had a powder room as well. Apart from staying at The Manor, I suggest that you try their buffet breakfast. I really like the variety of dishes they offered and enjoyed most of them. A good way to start your day right at Baguio. A definite must if you're staying there!

Overall, I'd suggest staying at The Manor. We really enjoyed staying here (except for the initial 2-bedroom suite booking) and love their breakfast buffet. We'll probably stay here again next year unless we want to try out a new place for comparison. By far, this is my favorite place to stay at in Baguio.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony facing the hotel grounds at the back. This has the best views for me espec...

Stayed from 27Nov-11Dec. From the lobby to their veranda, this is a very gorgeous looking hotel. Shops at the bottom of the hotel gives you a variety of different shopping venues and diners. The room was very adequate but the room we got on the first floor didn't pass the noise test. We stayed in Room 102 which is right next to the double doors following the main lobby. At night, a band plays right by the bar next to those double doors and oftentimes during the morning, you can pretty much hear anything that goes on in the hallway. Another thing I want to point out is that, breakfast is never included with any accomodations and this was relayed by the front desk personnel to me during check-in. Might be a good incentive for future promos to get this included instead of having to go somewhere else for food.

We went to Baguio and it brought me back in time as a child. I recommend this hotel aside from Baguio Country Club (but you have to be a member). Everything is as I had expected and even more. The room had a porch/balcony and our view was the garden. The breakfast buffet was excellent, almost like having lunch, scrumptious! The rates I paid worthy of our stay.

Room Tip: do not expect a swimming pool

The best time to hie up to Baguio is during the cool months from December to February. My husband and I decided to drive up and beat the Christmas crowd as Baguio does swell with people during the holiday season. For us there was no doubt that The Manor at Camp John Hay was the place to stay. The clean crisp air and the lush greenery set the mood for a quick but relaxing getaway. Booking online was fast and easy. I appreciate the call the day prior to confirm our reservation and to see if there was anything we needed. Arriving we were immediately met with the warmest welcome., Check in was a breeze. Our room on the second floor was clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. Hot water was strong and plentiful. Considering it is an old hotel, it is very well maintained and had none of the musty odors or broken fixtures in older establishments. Throughout the day hot Moringa tea is served in the lobby along side a warm towel. The staff was most helpful and accommodating, printing maps of the city and recommending restaurants. The lobby was cozy and tastefully decorated. The garden is lovely and a has a great playground for kids. Their bakeshop offers the most delicious breads and pasties. I highly recommend the Ube bread and the Almond cream bread. But they run out fast, a sure sign that their stock is always freshly baked. Our room did not include breakfast but for P550, we had a wide selection of breakfast fare. A variety of breads, cereals, fruits and hot dishes.
We are planing to return very soon.

Room Tip: Book a room with a balcony and Garden View.

Luxurious hotel with very nice garden views. Air conditioning unit was not even needed inside the room because Baguio City has a very cold weather. The room we stayed in was so comfortable and clean. Every detail in the room was well planned and designed. Hotel staff were very accommodating even it was already 1am when we arrived. Will stay there again.

Room Tip: Request for a room with the central garden view, although the frontage/driveway view is also nice.

This is an excellent hotel for a short visit during the Christmas period. The weather is really nice with the temperature ranging between 12C - 22C. The hotel is well decorated for Christmas and you feel all Christmassy. There is actually not much to do in Baguio City itself and your time there is best spent at the hotel with perhaps short walks in the pine forest. 2 nights is recommended.

The drawback is getting to Baguio City as there is no expressway or flights. The local roads are I guess always undergoing repair which causes slowdowns. Whole sections of the road are turned to 1 way traffic and it is quite bumpy and dusty.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms with a garden view.

Stayed here during a conference, and although noisy and outdated, it had a great ambiance.

The Good:
• Great bar
• Great backdrop and location
• Can hold one heck of a good reception in the backyard
• Excellent reception and concierge service Lauren at reception, and Toto at concierge
• Loved the balcony
• 1 Bedroom Suites very spacious and bright

The Bad:
• Main restaurant staff (during buffet) was very unfriendly and quite unhelpful to be honest. Only the girl who welcomed you was smiling
• Cold water, always cold water.. the longest (during three days there) I had the chance to shower in warm water was about 60 seconds before it went cold. PLEASE invest in larger hot water tanks!
• The carpet badly needed to be replaced (see pic), there even was a hole in it rubbed through by the balcony.
• Cheap furniture on the balcony, could use an upgrade
• Old furniture in the room, could use some TLC

All in all was a fun hotel during the conference to stay at, but would I pay this amount for this hotel again… probably not. I would with a few improvements that I believe the management has neglected to recognize as needed, having said that I would have given the hotel 3.5 stars if that was an option.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 2nd floor are very noisy considering the placement of lounge/bar and restaurant.
