“Beautiful Property, Disappointing Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

Stayed a weekend at The Manor with my family. The property is very special, located in the greenest and quietest part of Baguio. The one bedroom suite is large and well planned and has a lovely view of the garden and waterfall at the hotel. Food and service was a big disappointment. The service was slow, waiters took time to understand english, many times over we had a problem with our orders...for a hotel of this size and popularity better training of waiters is expected. Food was average. Breakfast was the best meal....a regular cheese sandwich tasted terrible! Hard cold bread- I would suggest eat meals at the near by Country Club if you can get an entry card. The food is good and staff well trained.

Room Tip: Choose rooms facing the inner garden and waterfall.

My wife and I spent 2 nights at the hotel. All the staff were attentive to our needs. Rooms were really nice a clean, hot water from the shower 24/7. Parking was well guarded and gated. It was far from the noise and congestion of the City proper. The view outside our room was priceless. We stayed during the Chinese new year so the garden was well lit at night. Even got a complimentary fruit plate and ornament. If you ask them to do your room while you have your breakfast, they will tidy it up like new, and replenish your toiletries automatically. Even left a pair of complimentary bottled water on our second day. Their breakfast buffet is a must try. My wife loved their crunchy bacon. I enjoyed everything from salad to dessert. Wifi connection was trouble free even in our room.

It was a nice place with a warm setting :)
The staff were very accommodating even at 5 am in the morning and the place is nice.
Only drawback for me was how they prioritize online reservations than people who pay full cash payment at their reservation office in Manila. I was requesting for a deluxe room garden view and told me they could only give me the superior room garden view, I was really disappointed at that (checked their online reservation online and rooms were still available). I could have reserved online if they allow debit payment online, only credit card and paypal were accommodated.
When we arrived, it was up to my expectations clean room but! I had to constantly remind them that there were 3 of us staying in the room and ask for extra set of everything since the third guest do not have a towel and toiletries with her (another disappointment was housekeeping bec she answered since we were in the superior rm, actually there should only be one set of toiletries etc), but then call the guest relations and sent another person to answer our needs, on the 2nd day, only 1 set of toiletries was refreshed, I wouldn't like to be hassles by calling the guest relations again for 3 times asking for 2 sets more.
The place was referred to me by my boyfriend, it was perfect minus the housekeeping issue and the not prioritizing people who pay full reservation of rooms.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms are better since you will be viewing a lighted garden until midnight, hotel seems...

This hotel has so much positive to commend. Location, staff, room, views, food. Camp John Hay is a great place for rest and recreation. There are cheaper hotels on the facility, but this is tops. The one critique is checkout. It took over 15 minutes, very unnecessary delay. Smooth this out and you get five stars!

Raisin Bread (Better than Baguio Country Club!)

Good:

Could be better:
Sound insulation
Aircon (I can imagine how warm it could be during the summer months)
Reception service

My wife and I have always wanted to stay at the Manor but something always came up and we haven't really managed to go; not until my vacation last month when finally it pushed through. It was exactly as we expected it to be - quality was fantastic (except for a trainee valet which I can easily shrug off), the room was excellent and they provided us with a crib as requested, food was great and the view was really scenic - particularly due to decors for the holidays. We'll most definitely go back and stay at the Manor every time we decide to take that 5-hour trip to Baguio.

Room Tip: Get the garden view as much as possible.

We check-in here yearly because we love so many things: the rooms (the pillows are just heavenly), food (I always look forward to their breakfast buffet), peaceful (it is located in Camp John Hay, which makes it more quiet than staying at a hotel in the city proper), also if you play golf, The Manor is very near two wonderful golf courses.

I also like the fact that you don't have to go through busy streets (no traffic inside Camp John Hay, unlike in the city proper). There are also several outlet stores and restaurants near The Manor, so you don't need to go far to find some great shopping deals.

Note: try to get a room facing the garden, near the water fountain. The sounds make you feel relaxed and definitely make me sleep better.
