Review of Botanical Garden

Botanical Garden

Baguio is the main source of cut flowers in the Philippines, and so their showcase of plants and flowers are definitely worth seeing. In addition, the gates of the park have long been occupied by some Igorots (the native people of Baguio). They stay there during visiting hours with their native costumes. Tourists can take photos with them in exchange for a small fee.

I did not like that they built a parking lot, which is not being used and killed a century old pine tree as a result. The gate and the enclosure built are tacky. I believe they are trying to improve the place but improvement does not mean pouring concrete in every nook and cranny. It does not live up to its name as being a botanical garden. Improvement should focus on adding more plants and greeneries.

Its nice you can go around freely around the park and absorb all the culture around you, away from the busy streets. Its like a trip around Asia where you get to see architectures of Japan, China, Korea, and the local native carvings. The place itself is an artwork.
For the explorers there is a little cave just after the little shinto sculptures. A shame we didnt get to explore it to fully since its dark and damp and unlighed, and we decided not to proceed due to the fact that we might get lost and I suck at determining left and right. lol

Plant lovers will really enjoy their visit here. Its free for all and with different kinds of flowers, cactuses and other plants, you can take pics for free or buy for souvenirs. Kids will also enjoy running around. Lovers can stroll for a romantic view. Away from the noise of busy streets in the city and a fresh air to breathe to keep stress away.
