Indeed, our family were fortunate to be able to reach Bencab's Museum. Not bringing our car for fear that we might get lost, we arrived by taxi. The place was a bit far from Session Road but we were glad to be able to arrive early. The fee: P100 per head and they do offer Senior Citizen's discount making the tickets at P80 each for my parents.

We were so lucky to have Bencab's daughter, Jasmine, give us a tour of Bencab's museum though I have to admit we would have wanted more explanation from her, as tour guide, for our better appreciation of the art works. It was more of a quick exchange of thoughts on a few art works on display. I so much wanted to know the inspirations drawn from or stories behind each art work. I guess I was just so glad to be toured around than having to go around Bencab's Museum on our own.

The Musuem showcase a wide array or variety of artworks with other local artists. I love that the Museum has a room filled with only of Bencab's own art work with his famous muse, "Sabel". They even have a coffeeshop named "Cafe Sabel" overlooking a great view of nature.

I gather that this excellent, multi storey concrete and glass structure was constructed without government assistance by the artist.

it is a very good smaller gallery with sections including many mixed media creations, Philippine masters and a little erotica. The Sabel cafe is within. There is a great lake outside.

Souvenirs are pricey. Admittance is P100 for adults: if you have a driver, he must also pay which is contrary to normal practice in Philippines.

All in all a great effort. Even the trendy toilets smelt great (and had toilet paper - not usual in Philippines!)

There were about eight others visiting at 0930 on a weekday morning but they do get a steady stream of visitors although only a tiny proportion of those who visit the Baguio Night Markets or Mines View Park. BenCab Museum's location doesn;'t help as it's a fair taxi ride away from the Baguio CBD. When you get there however, the view alone is worth it.

We were fortunate to be toured by Bencab's own daughter, Jasmine. However, her knowledge of her father's works and those others on display seemed to be limited. The paintings on the wall did not come to life when she simply showed us the collection and did not volunteer much explanation on the story behind each one. There is no question that the museum contains a wealth of art works. But the visit would have been more complete if a guide was capable of fleshing out the artists' background, perspective and portraiture of their individual works. The building that housed the museum was also a disappointment because i somehow expected that the architecture/ design would be reflective of our own Filipino heritage. The interior, painted white, was lackluster and appeared as sterile as a hospital. They could probably employ a designer to add drama and aesthetics to its interior. Over-all, it was a wonderful experience to view the works of Bencab, especially those on his iconic muse, Sabel. Those wanting to visit the museum, may probably read up and get a primer first on their own on the works of Bencab, for a better appreciation of his art works..

The museum features a wide array of art works not just by Bencab but by other local artists as well. Almost everything about the place, including its interior design, is a work of art.

They also have a coffee shop but when I came there were very limited food choices. I hope things have improved on this side.

Bencab is not only for Artists, it is also for those who appreciate a good scenic view, the outdoor part of the Museum is so scenic that you cannot resist taking pictures, the view is especially enhanced when you are there during the sunset.

The ticket price before was at 100pesos/person i am not sure on how much it is now.
