“Motherload of all Washing”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

It was a major regret but we never actually stayed here however upon being left stranded for a day by the a Peru Rail strike we decided to do something positive and get our washing done. After looking through the guidebook for hostals that would cater for this service we decided on the Inka's Rest. We paid about £15/$24 for a hefty 9kg of rancid garments which were washed over the course of a bout 6 hours.

Despite only getting our washing done here the family that own he hostel were exceptionally accommodating and allowed us to lounge round the hotel until it was time to catch our night bus. Although I can't vouch for the rooms the common areas of the hostel were exceptionally clean and there was a friendly intimate atmosphere about the hostel.

The hostal also boasts a resident puppy: Barry and don't take any notice of some of the guide books which in there usual scaremongering tone describe the hostal as being down a 'dodgy road'.

We stayed at this hostel for 2 nights while visiting Puno in November. There are various pro's and con's, so decide for yourself:
They actually had our reservation from hostelbookers and also deduced the 10% you pay, something that doesn't always happen. The beds are comfy and the water is hot with good water pressure. The staff were friendly enough and helped us book an OK tour to the islands on Lake Titicaca. However, the boat we were on was far from safe when we got into a storm at the end of the trip. All the boats are the same, so think twice before you head out in bad weather. I've been on boats of all sizes and never in my life I've been afraid - in all kinds of weathers - but that thing was so close to flipping over, we almost peed our pants ;-)
The breakfast has coffee (of a fair quality), coca, tea, bread, butter and jam. And juice. The juice was not all right the first day (tasted kind of overdue already), but the opened a new package the next day. We pimped our breakfast with eggs, so it was good.
On the down side, the dorm is too small for 8 people and 8 backpacks. I realize you try and put as many beds as possible, but you gotta find some room to put the stuff! There are a lot of movies to ren

I only spent one night at inka's rest as a stop over but a few things stood out. Firstly the good. the staff were very friendly and the hostel has a warm cosy atmosphere with multiple relaxing common areas. The location is fairly good only a few minutes walk to central restaurant area and a few more to the Lake. The price was also very reasonable. The not so good. The hostel was a bit dis-functional and disorganised. I booked 2 months in advance and yet was put in an all girls dorm because they had no other beds available. There were random things seeming to be stored in halls and walk areas. The second toilet was also a bit gross and crudely constructed/kept. all in all it was ok but needs some work and if you were there for a few days/week it could get frustrating

We stayed in this hostel for a couple of days and we liked it very much. The staff was friendly, rooms were clean and the beds comfy. Also, there were nice down duvets. The spacious common area and the kitchen were pros! The hostel is on walking distance and there is a supermarket nearby.

Hostel is well located in the centre of town near to a large supermarket. We stayed in an 8 bed dorm which was basic but fine especially for the price. Staff are lovely, speak good English and are so helpful. Only thing was it felt a little grubby at times, & the bathrooms needed cleaning more frequently.

We stayed here two nights and loved it. The rooms are split up into little apartments so every two rooms has a living area and bathroom and tv. It was a clean spot and great place to hang out when you just want to laze around. Definitely recommend it.
