“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

We stayed 2 nights at the end of our Peru vacation. Property is located outside the city limits which limited our ability to leave. That being said. The rooms were very nice, clean, with comfortable beds & many pillows. During the winter months it gets quite cold in Puno so we had the heater going & under the many covers- WifI in our lower room did not work, it did work in the lobby & restaurant . Dinner was in a very nice and hint for our 2nd night we ordered Pizza from the lobby bar menu (not advertised). Breakfast buffet was very nice & if you need a early departure ask for the breakfast box which we very much apprcicated.

Room Tip: If you need Wifi don't get lower rooms.

Breakfast and dinners here are great. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Easy access to Titicaca tours at the end of the dock. Lounge area is very pleasant for sitting by the fire and making new acquaintances, or reviewing fabulous touring experiences on Lake Titicaca

Room Tip: Room right beside the lobby looks out on main pathway, so does not feel very private.

Every hotel in Peru blew me away... modern. Beautiful location, lovely bed, perfect meals. Everything you expect when paid for a hotel. Lake Titicaca is also amazing, freezing cold brrrrr rug up in winter when you leave the hotel - freezing cold temperatures early AM but warms up nicely around lunch.

This room had the biggest bed of any hotel I have stayed in, much larger than a superking. It was comfortable and warm with amazing views of the lake. The shower was good and hot but the bathroom was a little dark. Staff were friendly and the food was the best. It was of a very high quality and looked beautiful before you started. Free Wifii and computer access including printers. Plenty of free water which is a plus in South America. Watch your bill as they add 10 per cent automatically but still leave a space for a tip.

Room Tip: Get a lake view.

Dear guest,

We appreciate the time you took to share your comments with our team.

We are glad to know you had a great time during your time with us and also that you could rest quietly in your room. In addition, we are pleased you enjoyed our location as well as our staff were attentive to you.

Regarding the 10% addition you mention, hotels throughout our country add this amount in order to split it with all the hotel staff. This amount is not considered tip.

We hope we can serve you once in the future.

Best regards,

The Casa Andina Team

I stayed here with my family in May 2013. The property is located on the banks of Lake Titicaca. This offers hotel guests with gorgeous views of the lake by day and night. Although the rooms are comfortable, we had a room overlooking the road leading to the hotel. Unfortunately, there was a construction site right across the road and we always had to keep our curtains and balcony door closed because of the noise.

During our stay, my father faced some severe breathing problems due to the altitude. The reception desk was very helpful. They immediately arranged an oxygen cylinder, disinfected the mask in front of us and assisted him with it.

The food at the restaurant was below average. I would much rather recommend the pizzas and sandwiches in the bar.

Although the location offers some fabulous views, it is quite far away from the city centre. As such, although this is a great location for excursions on Lake Titicaca (the pier is a 10 minute drive from the hotel), if you want to visit the main square you will have to take a cab which would cost you approx 7 to 10 soles (maybe more).

Room Tip: Request a lake facing room

We spent two nights at this hotel on the 15th and 16th of May. We had taken the Andean Explorer luxury train from Cusco to Puno and didn't arrive at the hotel until 7:30 that evening. Check in was fairly easy. We were in a room in the 100 section - (I think it was room 116) - so we had to go to an outside courtyard and take a flight of stairs to the lower level. Despite the fact that this was supposed to be a room with a view - yes, we faced the lake - but we were at the lowest level so there really wasn't much of a view. If that's what you're looking for, make sure you ask for a room on one of the upper levels.

The rooms are VERY basic. Nothing spectacular and the carpet was rather frayed. If internet service is important to you, you will NOT get it in this section of the hotel. We had to go to the dining room to get internet access. The internet works ok in the main lobby and on the upper floors. But, you will not get it in the 100 section.

Breakfast was included and it was very good. Dinner the prior night was so-so.

Certainly, the hotel was adequate given how little time we spent in it. But, after the Monasterio in Cusco, this particular hotel was a bit of a let-down.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on one of the upper floors if you really want a good view. Stay away from the room...

We stayed here for one night before transferring to the Casa Andina Private Collection Suasi Island. The staff was very helpful in answering our questions about the transfer, and the tour guide during the transfer was very knowledgeable. For dinner that night, we ate at the hotel's restaurant, which was very good. It was my wife's birthday, and the staff sang to her and gave her a birthday cake. The accommodations were comfortable (the bathroom was a bit dated compared to our other accommodations), and the breakfast buffet had plenty of options (including omelettes). Overall, we were quite pleased.
