Having now spent some time in South America I think the average 3 star hotel is exactly that. This hotel is well situated to the Main Street with shops and restaurants. The staff are helpful and friendly. The rooms basic and clean. Breakfast is fairly average. There is on site pizza but there was construction in the area during our stay so we did not eat here.

we were there for one night. it was very comfortable. mistakenly we were booked for two people by our travel agent. the staff was nice to upgrade us to a bigger room. initially they wanted to charge us the difference but eventually they gave us for free. the room was very nice and beds were comfortable. the design is contemporary and lobby area is very nice. Pizzeria was nice for dinner although the wait was too long. The location is central but access is through a very shady street. Luckily our travel agency had arranged for all the transfers from bus stop to hotel to Lake Titicaca. Otherwise we would feel bit unsafe on that street late in the evening. Internet was painfully slow for browsing. Wifi for the phone/emails was adequate.

I lost 100 soles somewhere in this hotel. I believe, I paid 100 soles instead of 10 soles for few water I bought at front desk. The change they handed me back was based on 10 soles. But it is also possible that I dropped the 100 soles bill from my wallet somewhere near the reception area. I lost soles but it was my fault too. Just to be clear, I am not blaming any hotel staff for this. Since I am not sure about this, I will not judge the hotel staff based on this incident.

One suggestion - please provide 2 bottles of water free in the room everyday.. Peru is a hot and humid place and it would be nice if guests don't have to go looking for water as soon as they arrive in Puno. AND please add an elevator! I can't believe a hotel without an elevator!

Great central location, and value for money. Arrived at midnight and greeted by very welcoming and friendly staff. Room was clean and tidy, bed was comfortable. We were feeling the unpleasant effects of the high altitude and the staff were very aware to this, with a large bottle of oxygen sent our room that night. The following morning we had a reasonably good continental breakfast before heading out on the lake.
Special mention to Hellman Espinoza for great hospitality and making our stay an effortless one.

The trouble started when our group booked in. They took our passports and said they would deliver them to our room. After an hour - no passports, so I went to reception and they were sitting on their desk behind the counter and no-one there. When I found someone they were all mixed up. Not good enough.
The room we had was substandard. It was small and poky with one side of the bed pushed up against the wall so the only way to get into bed was from the end. Ridiculous. As a result, one side had no bedside table or lamp. There was absolutely minimal storage and nowhere in the bathroom to put toiletries. The shower was lukewarm at best after waiting for an eternity for it to warm up.
To top it off I was overcharged on my food bill and was only charged the correct amount after a protracted argument. It all came back to the waiter writing out 2 dockets for the one meal. We were the only ones in the restaurant that night so there were no excuses.
Overall, a very disappointing experience after an excellent stay in the Casa Andina Select Miraflores in Lima.

I stayed here for 10 nights during the festival of the virgin of Candalaria. It is a great location in Puno accessible to the stadium, Jiron Lima and good restaurants. I walked everywhere except to the docks for a boat to the islands on Titicaca. That was a cheap cab ride away. The hotel staff is very friendly and strive mightily to help. We had one of those Andean thunderstorms where you think the roof might cave in and lost power for about five minutes.
The room was comfortable, roomy and spotless. Wifi connection was good.

The hotel is very clean, centrally located, and the staff is both friendly and helpful. Bradley was small but nice. I'd like to give the hotel a good rating, but unfortunately the room was so uncomfortable and noisy, to the point where I didn't sleep well at all.

First, there are no closets or drawers to store clothes, a minor inconvenient, but an inconvenience nonetheless.

More importantly, the rooms were very loud, both because of outside noise and the music that was blaring through the hotel's music system 24 hours a day. Our room was above the lobby and we could hear pan flute posting at all hours of the day.

The noise, coupled with a rock-hard bed made sleeping very difficult.

The bathroom was simple and uninviting. At least it was very clean.

Puno street streets were being torn-up outside the hotel and the hot water was not really hot plus the cold water tap didn't work! Coming back from our "floating island" trip the weather suddenly changed to hailstones and the hotel lobby was flooded! Chairs were provided as a bridge to get us to our room. However we could walk to the centre from here.
