“Covenient location in town”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

We enjoyed our stay here, the bedroom was big and well furnished, as was the bathroom. The reception is large and leads on to a dining area. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. The location is great, just a short walk along the one street takes you to the pedestrian area with plenty of places to eat and many other shops to see.Reception was efficient, rather than friendly, but did everything that was asked of them.

We stayed two nights coming from Colca to explore Lake Titicaca. Our room was clean but didn't have a window which was rather uncomfortable.
The lobby, restaurant and room were all chilly and univitingly decorated, but had everything we needed.

This was another lovely Peruvian hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious and relaxed. We had no problems staying warm - we asked for extra blankets and turned our heater on full blast! The temperature in Puno does drop as soon as it gets dark. We were able to find places to eat only a short walk away from the hotel.

We stayed here for two nights, ready for our Condors cross experience and the following day for our lake Titicaca trip. Then hotel was cold and we had difficulty keeping warm. We decided not to venture out and just to eat in the hotel. All they did was pizza and soup. This was adequate as we not particularly hungry and were suffering a little from altitude sickness. To that end we had a 10 minute oxygen session each to perk us up.
The hotel was suitable for the purpose and was clean and comfortable.

We normally use trip advisor to book all our accommodation, though for Puno, we relied on a friends recommendation of a hotel brand being Casa Andina. We also wanted to be close to the city centre as we were heading out to the islands for a homestay which required a pick up.

If you are after a basic, clean hotel in a third world country then this is fine, certainly not amazing compared to other places we have stayed for a similar or cheaper price.

Some of the positives were that after I booked on hotels.com, I liaised back and forth via email to arrange a pick up from the airport as I had heard it was a fair way and wanted to make sure we were safe. Email response was fairly prompt. The pick up from the airport was in a nice air-conditioned minivan and the price was comparative to other services at 148 sols. The staff were friendly at check in and quite responsive to any needs. As it turned out, there was a slight mix up with our booking and they thought we were 4 people, however we were only two, they also had our name incorrect, this may have been fed through from hotels.com. The staff were able to sort this out and we got our room quite quickly. The rooms were nice, had enough space and were clean, the bed was comfortable too. The flow of water in the shower was strong, though maybe a little strong as out first room ended up with a flood on the bathroom floor. We advised reception and when we checked back in after our island home-stay we were in a different room. The front desk staff were also able to store our bags whist we were away for a night, they were safe and back in our new room when we arrived again. The location was good right at the beginning of Lima Street which is close to restaurants etc.

Some negatives or areas of improvement would be the leaking shower mentioned before, I think this had a lot to do with the shower curtain and regardless or where we placed it (inside or outside the bath) the water sprayed everywhere. We had to give a credit card number over email to secure the transfer which I was a bit hesitant about, even though they were not charging this card, they were quite inflexible about any other options for this other then phoning which was inconvenient due to the time difference in Australia. The breakfast was quite basic, though somewhat better that the basic bread and jam, there were some cold meats, fruit and pancakes as well. We didn't try the pizza's though looked at the prices and they were a lot more expensive then what you could get down the street, they were also quite small. WiFi was quite patchy in the room and in our second room on the ground floor it only worked in the common area which was a little annoying.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a basic hotel, though it was a typical medium to large hotel brand and I think we could have found something better for the price.

Room Tip: It was a little noisy on the ground level, I think anything above this is better.

My husband and I stayed here and we were very pleased. We had stayed in upgraded hotels the two previous nights, but since this hotel was more budgeted, we were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! The hotel is in a safe location - walking distance to the main square. The rooms were very clean and quiet. There is a lovely pizzeria in the lobby where we enjoyed a delicious meal of pizza and calzones. Our stay was a very comfortable, no frills experience. We would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for two nights as our resting spot for our trip to Lake Titicaca. The room was small. The mattress didn’t reach the end of the bedspring, so we kept banging our legs into it. The heater didn’t work adequately so the room was very cold. The bathroom was even colder. There was little storage space in the room. There was also no elevator and our room was on the third floor. Fortunately, they did have people to help with bags. The bed was also too firm for my taste, but was at least a queen. The breakfast was about average for the hotels in Peru (yogurt, cereal, mueslix, bread, cheese, ham, tiny pancakes, potatoes, and coffee, tea, and juice). We had dinner there, which was pretty slow. I was shocked by the price of 6 Soles for water. Our pizza and calzone were pretty small given that they were the equivalent of 9-10 bucks each. The hotel is also not well located relative to the main part of town. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t stay there again.
