Owner description: These fascinating ruins consist of huge, cylinder-shaped towers in which pre-Inca tribes buried the elite members of their community.

Pre-incan and incan funerary towers. İt is a 45 minutes scenic drive from Puno. İt is a small site but the views are fabolous. Towers are set in a beautiful location on the edge of lake Umayo. Landscape stunning. On the way back we stoped at a farm house, lamas, alpacas, corps harvested in the area..

Having gone to the Museo Carlos Dreyer and having seen the artifacts which were found at Sillustani, it was delightful to stop there on our way to the airport in Julica on our last day. The area was beautifully green, and as it was 'off season'. there were few tourists, which enhanced our experience both of the ruins and of their stunning geographic locale. A really lovely area to walk and explore and I would definitely recommend seeing the artifacts at the Dreyer in conjuntion with your visit.

This ruin site has good examples of the burial chambers used. The lake that surround the pinnisula is actually higher than Lake Titicaca but is not navigable. There is a winding path to take up to the top to see the burial chambers and nice views of the area. There are alpaca and llamas grazing along the way. The way down is by uneven and many steep steps .

We stopped here on route to the airport for our flight to Arequipa. A very good site, and we found it interesting. Our guide Enrique was excellent.
