Great historical and culture to be learned here. Visited with Edgar Adventures for an unforgettable trip to this amazing island. Was described as a place frozen in time, and that is exactly what it is

Our full day on Lake Titicaca ended at Taquile Island, a charming island with charming people. There were several enterprising children in their school uniforms selling small knitted bracelets and other tourist chatchka, and, as is common with everywhere we went in the Altiplano, Andean women and men knitting colorful sweaters, hats and belts and hawking their wares. We hiked up about 600 feet to the main square, where we were able to shop (the prices were negotiable and ultimately reasonable) and take in the views of the lake and the island with its colorfully dressed inhabitants tending to their domestic animals. We had a nice al fresco lunch consisting of coca leaf tea, quinoa soup and lake trout, which added to our enjoyment of the day.

My wife and I went to the island. With the help of the tour guide, we climbed to the top and down. It was a really steep and rough go for me as the 13k altitude was hammering me, along with a head cold. When i get to the top, just see an open square with some buildings around it. Sat down and did not move till it was time to go down and eat the trout lunch meal. Unfortunately, the altitude had taken away my appetite for the last several days so donated it to other people on the tour and they ate it all. All in all, it seemed somewhat disappointing and nothing special. In retrospect, think would avoid Lake Titikaka and put the time towards Cuzco or other more interesting areas.

We booked the trip at the port which looking back was not a good idea. Our guide did not speak much English and we do not speak much Spanish He did not explain that when we got off the boat the boat then sailed around the island to pick you up at the other side.It did also say on the ticket that if you were not there on time you would be left on the island till the next day.The views are lovely but you have got to like walking and it was red hot the day we went
