“Worth the trip”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Even if you have to take 2,5 hours to go, 2,5 hours to get back for 3 to 4 hours there, visit it. Quite special, with magnificient views on Lake Titicaca and Bolivia. Note how the men and women are dressed.

“Interesting culture, but a long and boring boat trip”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

The island offers a good insight into the culture of the population, however it is positioned more and more to cater to tourists. The boat trip is a 3 hour one way trip to the island with nothing else it is very boring.

“Worth the walk to the top”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We went here on the same day, and just after Uros Island. A very different experience. We walked to the top of the Island to the town square (more than 500 steps). Not an easy walk, and the day was warm, but worth it when we got there. The day we were there, they were having their Harvest Parade and Festival. It was awesome. It was great to listen to all the music, watch all the dancing, and laughing at all of the antics of the "judges" who were there to judge the "upper" and "lower" harvest. We had our lunch there (included in our tour), soup, rice and the best fish I have had in my life. Seriously..it was sooo good. The walk down was a little easier, some beautiful views. The people of Taquile we more reserved than those on Uros, did not like to have their picture taken, especially the women. It was very different from any where I had been. I think a very difficult life.

“ok, touristy and expect for there to be many opportunities to pay for more things”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

ok, touristy and expect for there to be many opportunities to pay for more things (even if your tour is all inclusive) We had to do a tour of Uros and Taquile as there isnt much else to do on Lake titicaca. Choose your tour guide wisely and pay extra for a fast boat. Nice to see how locals would have lived long time ago and thought the locals were sweet. Sad that they have to exploit their lives/culture to make money.

“Skip this, nothing interezting”
Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

We went to Isla Taquile on a short cruise after we visited the floating islands. This place is boring, especially if this isn't your first travel location in Peru, and you've already seen many native people and their traditional clothing. Views are nice, but nothing jaw-dropping compared to Machu Picchu or other places.
