“Great location, hotel is tired and needs updating”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Great location for access to Lake Titicaca with spectacular views.

Unfortunately the hotel itself is tired and in need of refurbishment. The rooms and clean and comfortable, although on the smaller side with great views of the lake.
The bathrooms need modernizing.

The public areas need some sprucing up and there was very little atmosphere in the bar/restaurant on either night of our stay. The buffet breakfast was adequate but nothing special and on the second morning of our visit the buffet was not provided and breakfast items had to be ordered via the waiter. I think this is because the hotel was so empty but no explanation was provided.

The spa and wellness facilities do not live up to what was described, a small room with a jacuzzi - which had no water in it during our stay and a few exercise machines in the same room. The Sauna also didnt appear to be in working order during our visit.

This is not a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination !

The location is superb with fantastic views of Lake Titicaca and the hotel has its own jetty so you can go out to the floating islands. That is where the positives stop

The Negatives:
The hotel decor feels like something from the 1970s
The rooms are very small and the bathrooms even smaller
The internet only really worked for us in the main Lobby - not on the 4th Floor
We were told there was a gym and sauna, jacuzzi available for our use, when we went to check it out, it was one room with a few exercise machines and a jacuzzi with no water in it. Similarily the Steam room didnt appear to be functioning
The food was bordering on average, Be aware that if you have a room rate incuding dinner you are given a very limited set menu and dont have access to the A La Carte
Breakfast Buffet was the worst we have seen in the last 10 days in Peru across 5 different hotels

Finally the hotel seemed to be practically empty and we wondered whether they were just waiting for us to check out before closing it - that was how it felt with zero atmosphere. There were 2 lovely fireplaces which could have made the lobby cozy but these were never lit,

This was by far the worst hotel we stayed in on our trip to Peru and its very hard to imagine it has any association with the fantastic Tambo Del Inka in the Sacred Valley as they are night and day.

The location is fantastic, on a small private island connected to the mainland by a causeway. The views of the lake are wonderful and our 2 nights there were exceptional. You can actually do a 30 minute walk right round the island on a small track. Early morning, the birds are stirring in the reeds at the edge of the lake and it is a lovely place for a bit of respite from seeing sights. The reed islands are only a few minutes away by boat. Excellent breakfast at the hotel, and very good bar snacks in the evening. Special mention to a waitress in the bar called Evelyn, who dealt calmly and professionally with our group of about 20 hungry and thirsty people on two successive nights.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have lake view as the hotel is surrounded by the lake.

2 nights stay at this hotel, my girlfriend love it, great views (day/night) very quiet, there was not much do to at Puno so we stay at the hotel in the evening, playing billiards, listening to music in the main hall, went to the gym downstairs, they had a sauna, steam room, and a Jacuzzi. watching the sunset or sunrise. they have a patio outside when you can hang around and take pics with the lake in the background. at night, they have a fire to keep u warm. there was tea to drink when you arrive at the hotel. well while this hotel is not cheap but with going as romantic couple it will be worth it.

You certainly pay for the comfort of this hotel, but when you watch the sun rise over Lake Titicaca from your bed you'll realise what you are paying a premium for. The rooms are pleasant enough for, a couple of nights stay, but apart from the view there's nothing particularly memorable about them. The hotel seems rather clinical and the staff could do with a few pointers on customer service, from the receptionist who insisted that my wife, who was suffering badly from the altitude after a long bus journey from Chivay, refill her hotel reception form as her signature was imperceptibly different from that on her passport to the waiting staff at breakfast who were to busy chatting to serve coffee. The one thing that they deserve a big pat on the back for is the free oxygen service that they provide jujst off reception and in your room at night if you are suffering due to the altitudes. The coco tea which is sometimes available in reception, where you can serve yourself in tiny cups was probably the least palatable that we had in Peru. We did try to get a coffee in the bar one afternoon, but gave up after waiting for the bar staff to turn up. The hotel is quite remote from the town of Puno, but does have it's own jetty where you can board a boat to take you to the floating islands.
Definitely not one of the best hotels we stayed at in Peru, but probably the best that there is in Puno, especially for the view.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with the panoramic windows.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in August 2013 as part of a family holiday.

From check in to check out, we had problems with the quality of service and facilities, though its views and location are unbeatable.

--Check in was extremely slow, check out even more so. My brother's check out took more than 20 minutes, and eventually my father had to settle his bill so that my brother didn't miss his plane.

--The rooms are small, with the sort of furnishing you'd expect from a motorway hotel. My parents asked for a double and were given two single beds.

--The bathrooms seem to share air vents with the next-door room, meaning you can hear everything happening in the next door bathroom in your own bathroom and bedroom. I won't go into the obvious implications of this.

--The wifi in some 4th floor rooms is very, very weak, necessitating a trip to the lobby for any essential work.

--While some of the restaurant staff were charming and helpful, we found the restaurant to be understaffed. One evening our reservation was lost, and once we did sit down, service was patchy. My main course arrived after the rest of the family had finished eating.

On the positive side, the bar staff were friendly and efficient, and the food in the restaurant was good.

We were left with the sense that the hotel is resting on its laurels because of its location, and that a radical overhaul is necessary to justify the five-star rating.

Room Tip: Ensure before you arrive that you're getting a double bed if that's what you want. If wifi i...

The hotel is just outside Puno, about a 10 minute taxi ride away costing 10 soles. It is very clean and modern inside but the clean, modern exterior is a bit of a blot on the landscape. You do forget about that when you're inside and you have amazing views of the lake. The breakfast was good but we did feel that the restaurant was a bit expensive for meals at night (maybe they charged more because they knew that the only other option was to get in a taxi to go and get something to eat). That said, we did go into Puno and the reception ordered our taxi for us which arrived very promptly. The room was a great size with those wonderful views and everything was clean and comfortable. There was a low humming noise all through the night though which didn't bother me but it did disturb my husband. I'd stay again if I ever went back to Puno.
