“Not to be missed”
Reviewed August 19, 2014 via mobile

Must see if you are in Puno. We took a private tour to the islands and it was great to see how people live and make their livelihood. You usually feel a little pressure to buy something or support them somehow so to me spending a little bit of money was no big deal. Most of the islands are the same so you don't really need to visit more than one unless you really want to.

“Very interesting”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

It's very interesting to visit the Uros floating islands and to understand why and how they live this way. There are lots of views of the lake and many aquatic birds too. The problem with the people is that after your visit and the explanation that they will make for you, they will make lot of pressure to make you buy some of their crafts. If you are not interested, just tell them a polite "NO GRACIAS".

“Practised- and they want your money!”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

The Floating Islands formed part of a day tour and we did enjoy the overall experience; however, there is plenty of pressure to buy craft items and these are quite expensive for what they are. The cost to buy a postcard and post it is over $4.
The explanation of the construction of the islands was interesting and I did enjoy it and the boat ride which cost extra was fun.

Very interesting to walk on the reeds, see the reed huts and boats, and learn how they made it all work. Their wardrobes and souvenirs are very colourful. But the souvenirs are expensive, except the prices dropped dramatically after most of the people have left.

“Just Do It. You will learn a great deal...”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

The Uros islands were unbelievably interesting – the demonstration of island construction and free reign to walk around the floating island at will was awesome (peering into their homes). I certainly learned a great deal – one of my favourite thoughts was a young girl going up to the shoreline grabbing a bowlful of water and began drinking the Lake Titicaca water – it got me thinking... I would recommend bringing some soles with you as the craft sold were great quality and price. I also took the boat ride with the local canoe for 10 soles which was worth as it gave you a great perspective on the island you are visiting.
