What a wonderful place to spend 3D/2N! It was far too short - in retrospect I would have booked 5D (4 days for touring and 1 day to just relax by the pool and take in the sounds of the jungle).

From our arrival at Pto Moldonado to our departure we were very well taken care of by congenial hosts (not hovering babysitters). We found Raul at the airport quickly and easily. He made our transfer to the boat (via the office and a few quick errands) easy and seamless. Just as he did our departure. Raul is very pleasant and eager to show us his town. (he'll make a great guide when the time comes!)

Our boat ride was a quick 25 minutes. Once there we had some time to relax and chill with the local macaws, toucan and parrots. They are quite a cast of characters!!

We met Manuel for our botanical walk in the adjoining jungle. His knowledge and enthusiasm is key ingredient to his success as a guide. Manuel was our guide for the duration of our time at Corto Maltes.

Our bungalow was kept clean and we did have warm water. The electricity is on a schedule, but it didn't interfere with our enjoyment. My only criticism would be the seating arrangements at meal time. I do wish it was open seating so that we could meet other travellers. We were fortunate that the other traveller in our 'group' was great and we did enjoy her company.

I will add... we did find a big coach roach in our bungalow. I suspect he came up through the drain. We shoo-ed him out and was never seen again. We also had a little frog hiding in the corner of the wall. Again, we let him be and he left while we were off to breakfast. Moral of the story: Keep your bags zipped up and your snacks locked up! The critters are part of the landscape.
We really enjoyed our stay!!!

Room Tip: the bungalows farther away from the pool give you more privacy

Quite luxurious bungalow lodge in the Amazon with large bungalows that sleep 2-3 people boasting en suite bathrooms, large beds with mosquito nets and terraces with very comfortable hammocks.
The lodge has a pool, bar, souvenir shop and massage service. The cocktails in the bar are not cheap (20 Sol per cocktail), but they are strong! On the grounds you can explore beautiful plants, play with tame parrots and observe the local wildlife.
All staff are very friendly and helpful.
The food in the on-site restaurant is excellent, including a healthy breakfast and great 3 course evening meal. Drinking water is free and available all day.
The lodge offers a range of daily activities including excursions to a local lake, farmer and native tribe, which will keep you entertained, just in case lying by the pool all day is not your thing.
High recommended for a relaxed yet entertaining few days in the Amazon.

We really appreciated our 4 days / 3 nights formula in Corto Maltes.
Compare to what we experienced in Peru, here when they say all inclusive, you don't open your wallet.
They even offer beverages and snacks.
The staff is really nice especially our French guide Eduardo.
And environment is awesome : swimming pool, lodges and restaurant.

Even if rate is a bit high, it worth it !

We really enjoyed our stay here and I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone. The staff were all very friendly and pretty accommodating. The first day we arrived my husband wasn't feeling well and they offered to make him some soup (which was really good by the way). The food was always great and the presentation was always nice. The resort is nicely maintained and the huts were pretty decent. We did have to take cold showers, but that was okay seeing as how is was pretty hot and humid. Electricity is limited to morning and evening, so plan on bringing flashlights. Our guide Daniel was great and very knowledgeable about all of the different animal species we saw. There are also a couple of birds that stay around the resort. The adult macaws weren't too friendly however there are a couple of green parrots that seem very tame and will intentionally land on you when walking. We had one follow us to our hut and hung out with us for quite a while (FYI- he really liked apples!). All in all, we would definitely stay there again!

Our family of 5 adults and our 2 year old granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day and 4 night stay here. We were met at the Puerto Maldonado airport, transferred to the dock, traveled down river to the lodge and given the keys to our thatched roof cabanas with comfortable beds, private bath/shower, porch with table, 2 chairs and 2 hammocks. The grounds are filled with tropical flowers, fruit trees, resident macaws, parrots and a toucan. The pool was refreshing and frequently used at all times of day and night. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, plentiful and served by helpful waiters.
By far, the best thing about our stay was our amazing, personal guide, Jose. His English was excellent and his knowledge of the local flora and fauna was incredible. We took multiple hikes through the forest and he would frequently stop and show us a plant and discuss its uses or an animal and describe its life cycle. We saw troops of monkeys, flocks of birds, butterflies, bugs and flowering plants and exotic trees. The Amazon is stunning and we learned so much from him.
We felt pampered our entire stay. The all inclusive package price per person was far less than many of the other lodges in the area. We all left feeling this was one of the most spectacular vacations we have ever taken. Everything was well coordinated by the staff and we will forever remember our stay at Corto Maltes. Muchas Gracias!

When we arrived at the Puerto Maldonado airport we were a little put off at first to see half of our plane board the brand new EcoAmazonia bus, only to find ourselves and one other person getting onto the dilapidated Corto Maltes van. We were expecting a run down resort, but when we arrived we saw that it was beautiful. Each person/family gets their own jungle hut, complete with a bathroom and shower. The shower water was a little cold, but considering we were in the middle of the jungle, I was OK with that. We went in the slow season, so it was very quiet, and a little awkward because the kitchen staff literally sits on chairs facing you and watches you eat. There were only a couple downsides I can note - 1. The tour we signed up for said we would be going to Monkey Island, but we were never taken there. That is one of the reasons we chose that tour so it was a bit of a disappointment when that never occurred. 2. You are kept with your tour group for all of your meals. If this was a large group it would have been a lot of fun to get to know other people over breakfast, lunch and dinner; however, our group was just myself, my boyfriend and one other individual who did not speak the same language as us, which made our meals very awkward and agonizingly long. We had booked the jungle portion of our trip as a nice getaway for the 2 of us, but rather than finding our meals to be a relaxing break to the day, we found that we were actually dreading them. 3. Alot of the amenities that had been promised (poolside bar, shop on location) were not open. We did come in the slow season, so I imagine that is why; however, I would have expected these promised amenities to be available to all guests, regardless of how many other visitors were on location. We came here in the rainy season as mentioned, so unfortunately we experienced some heavy rains all 3 days we were there, but when the sun did come out it was great to explore the property, swim in the pool, and just relax on our hammocks. Lastly, they only take cash here - so be sure to talk out some cash before getting to the rest.

Even through we only spent only 2 nights at the lodge, but the whole experience was perfect! we slept well during the nights, walked kms during the day and ate delicious meals.
Our 9 year old daughter was with us and she loved every moment.
We should have been a bit more prepared for the jungle walk and I wish I had not worn dark clothes...as even with the mosquito repellent they attract the bugs!!!
The staff were perfect and so was our guide Gloria.
We will return.

Room Tip: wear loose light coloured clothes
