This is a "must go" place for people who love nature, wildlife, trekking and adventure!! My family and a group of 15 traveled to Puerto Maldonado and tayed at INKATERRA Amazonian resort. The hotel was the best hotel in the middle of the Jungle!! Can you imagine?? The service more than excellent, facilities, were enough and perfect, food delicious!
I have to say that this was my second time staying at Inkaterra "and not the last".
My girls 7 and 15 enjoyed enjoyed the trip more than I can tell. Although, my eldest daughter was concerned about insects and mosquitoes, she puts repellent all days and the problem was solved.
Highly recommended.

My wife and I were thoroughly impressed by the private lodging and amenities, and by the terrific food and drink; the service throughout our 4-day stay was also terrific. The tour guides for the various treks were knowledgeable, friendly and fluent in English. There was a very international clientele and this is a very family-friendly resort. The only thing we were disappointed in was the relative lack of wildlife we saw - while we heard many birds, they proved to be pretty difficult to see and outside of the agoutis, we saw little in the way of terrestrial creatures.Maybe our misfortune since our visit was during the dry season.

I am writing this review about the Inkaterra excursion staff and not the hotel itself. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Wasai lodge in Puerto Maldonado and wanted to do a canopy walk so the people at Wasai outsourced it to Inkaterra lodge.

Complaints: The people who were coming to transport us to the Inkaterra site showed up more than an hour late to pick us up.
-The guide that we had was horrible. He didn't really speak English so he couldn't answer our questions but didn't really seem very interested in helping us anyway. He CHECKED HIS CELL PHONE while I was trying to answer questions and was basically trying to have us walk ourselves around the canopy while he was texting.
-The excursion was scheduled during the afternoon, when there is usually no wildlife out. We barely saw any animals, which was the point of the excursion.
-The boat that we came in broke down on the way out and we had to wait for them to replace the engine, even though there were other boats available. We were given no information and had to keep asking what was going on.

Basically this was by far the worst service we had in all of Peru and I would give it negative stars if I could. The lodge itself looked nice but we had a much nicer location and WAY better service at Sandoval Lake Lodge for about 1/3 of the price at Inkaterra. We stayed two nights at SLL and had 5 excursions with knowledgeable, helpful, enthusiastic guides for just about twice what we paid just to walk on the canopy bridges at Inkaterra for 10 minutes. Awful.
