Granted the resort is 2 hours from the airport which caused others to diss the resort. Not sure why that's an issue, ...the place is great. In any case the new airport, 10 minutes away, looks like it is ready to open soon, so that should take that out of the equation. Once there, the resort is a nice size (seems big at first, but doesn't take long to figure out how to get around. The pools are great, the food is terrific, and the beach is large and ocean easy to walk into. Note that it is built along the side of a hill, so there is stairs and upward inclines, so just be aware up front. The al a carte restaurants are all good, many situated along the beach. We had no issues booking them.

If you really want to get away from the mainstream then this is the place to go. It is 2 hours from the airport and 1 1/2 hours from Panama City. The resort is expansive with many pools and bars and 3 lobbies. Get a room beach side or ocean from or you may be walking a distance to the restaurants and buffets. Oh, you have to pay to rent a safe??????? Why!!!!!!! and there is wifi in the lobbies

The staff was pleasant and helpful but brush up on your Spanish. I asked for a vodka soda with a lime and got a coke!!!!!! There was certainly a language barrier.

Just down the beach it the bombed out and run down beach home of Noriega, worth seeing. The beach is great and the water warm with lots a palappas.

Not sure the time we went was the right time, some of the restaurants were closed because of the low season and some of the excursions were not offered because of a minimum of people required. It is worth going to Panama City(mini Manhattan) and the Old Town.

Had a great time at this resort with wife & young son. On staff Doctor was also helpful after we flew in from South America with stomach illness. Good in a day or 2 & enjoyed the various activities as well as the food. Plenty of it @ medium to medium high quality depending on which meal & restaurant on the resort.
They really need 1 of these in Nicaragua & El Salvador where it might be a little cheaper and maybe have surfing.

Greetings,

We appreciate your comments.

We are glad to read that our staff treated your family as should. Hopefully we will have you around once again. Regarding your inquiry about El Salvador, in fact we have a Decameron. Unfortunately for Nicaragua we are not installed yet.

For more information you can go to our website.

May 2014
We just returned from a 9 day holiday at this resort. Positives: The property itself is beautiful, the location perfect and situated on a beautiful beach on the Gulf of Panama, but it is a 2 hr drive from Panama city which makes it very difficult and expensive to see more of the country. Staff friendly and helpful. Mostly Spanish speaking but are still willing to help and appreciate your efforts to speak Spanish however little. Our room was beautiful with a fantastic view. Only negatives were the entry door and two connecting doors in the room to adjacent rooms, which though sturdy allowed sound to pass through and we had some very noisy neighbours for a couple of nights.

Negatives: Sadly the management needs to do something about the food quality in the buffets and the a la carte restaurants. The food was often iffy but, having said that we always found something we could eat. Chicken, fish, rice and potatoes, salads were usually the best choices. Beef or pork dishes were always tough (often unbelievably so). The coffee in the restaurants was awful, however the lobby bars will give you a great cappuccino. Wine horrible. Beer is good and your best choice. Music choice and level of volume in both the buffet restaurants and a la carte were often awful (although the jazz was generally enjoyable) and frequently there were two different streams of music playing at the same time, and LOUD! The a la carte restaurants were only marginally better than the buffets (we actually gave up on the a la cartes in favour of the buffets because of the possibility of finding better foods there!). This said, we found Cafe Med and Kontiki to be the better ones. Some we wanted to try were closed due to it being a slow period and the resort down to 50% occupancy but this possibility was not mentioned in the Nolitours online brochure!

Suggestions: We loved our room #4632, which was huge, third floor with a fantastic view of the ocean. There was a natural break in the tree line in front of us which provided an uninterrupted view. It was just beside the adult pool but offset just enough so that you still have privacy and quiet. Yes this location is at the top of the hill and at the extreme right of the resort facing the ocean, but we did not find this to be an issue at all. My husband and I are in our mid sixties and are reasonably fit. Much has been made of the stairs to the top but we had no trouble....it's five minutes at best to negotiate the stairs. If someone has mobility issues that's a different story. Take some rain ponchos to deal with unexpected tropical downpours especially in the rainy season. Lots of sunscreen. The sun is unbelievably strong so close to the equator. Don't be fooled by a cloudy day. My husband got a burn on the last day at 4;30 in the afternoon when it was totally overcast. Hot water in the bathroom can be slow but it comes eventuality - just let it run a few minutes and you get a nice shower! Nice big bathroom w/full-sized mirror, large shower, fresh towels every day.
Would we go back? Probably not. If the issues we have mentioned are addressed, this is a great resort to visit.

Room Tip: If you want quiet and a good view, third floor rooms with outward jutting balcony near the adult pool are a good choice. If you want to be close to the restaurants and the bars then the beach side rooms are for you.

If your looking for good food this is not the place. If you want good service hit and miss with that. Overall we just wanted to try Panama and after Costa Rica this was a huge let down. I do admit that we travel without kids down south and this hotel had alot yes alot of them. There was a deal promoted south of Panama for the kids to stay and eat free so they all came. There is alot of potential for this resort but no one is asking or doing there.
