Our stay was awesome. We had great rooms, met great people and the staff were great-although don't speak too much English. We were beachfront and every morning was like heaven. This is a huge resort so we chose to take our tours through Panama Road Runner. This way it was only the 4 of us and we had all the time in the world and could add on or change our trip to suit us. The driver was great-Dann-and gave us lots of inside information about what is happeneing around Panama. Our next trip we had Neil and he was full of useful information about living in Panama and the opportunities that exist there. Our excursions were what we wanted and they were awesome with no waiting for other people and line ups for the bathroom or anything else! Just what I want on my holiday!!!!!

Great time had by all!

Room Tip: Beachfront is the best location for swimming, beaches, being close to the bar and food....

We arrived on Jan 08 and the traffic resulted in a 3 hour+ trip to the resort. The rest of the stay was well worth it. The resort offers everything needed for a relaxing holiday. It may not be a 5 star but it isn't a 3 star either. We travel quite a bit and have stayed in worse places that were rated a 4 star.
The food was good and it was possible to eat in an a la carte every night. It's hard to judge the quality of food as everyone has different tastes. We enjoyed the Italian and Steak and Seafood as well as the Kontiki and Meditereanian Restaurants. There was a menu for the buffet restaurants posted daily where you booked the a la carts.
The beach might not have had the white sand as in the Caribean but it was wonderful to relax in and the water was unbelievably warm and calm.
There were many pools to choose from so if you wanted action or quiet you had a few well maintained places to go.
If there was a drawback it was the French Quebecois who were so different from the French Canadians. They were rude and disrespectful of others. I am Canadian and I was embarassed by denial of these people that there were others there to enjoy themselves and treat the people of Panama with some respect.
I would reccommend this place but not for 1 week but for at least 2.
The City/Panama Canal tour was worth every penny.
Ther were people with a 5 day stay at the resort and 2 days in the city or 11 days at the resort and 3 days in the city. I would recommend one of these.

Room Tip: Stay away from the rooms along the road leading into the resort as there is a lot of noise early in...

Being my first trip I have nothing to compare too...but...it was everything I expected. Great room..clean...Great Staff...friendly...Good Security...always felt safe. Two hour bus ride showed me the countryside and the time flew by. Fed us as soon as we got there. I went there for rr so didn't go on tours but was busy all time. Lots of pools, lots of bars, lots of food. Staff very friendly, always smiling. Absolutely no issues. Planing next trip to Porta Vallarta and hope to stay at Royal Decameron

Room Tip: Bring travel mugs to keep beer cold

This resort has yet to achieve its full potential. The staff is somewhat friendly but not as friendly as most of the resorts we have been to. The bus ride from the airport was 2 hours and 40 minutes with no stops; the ride back was about 2 hours. The new international airport should be open by 2014 and will be right next door from the resort. I don’t know how it will be for noise. The beach was great and we were able to go into the ocean everyday but one. They have life guards on the beach and at the many pools. Unfortunately the pools only open at 9:30 am, not so great when you can’t go into the ocean and need to cool off as it is hot here. The buffets were good but not great. There is coffee available in the morning at the restaurants but they have no specialty coffee bars as there are in many other resorts. We went to three a la cart restaurants. The seafood one was great, the Japanese was more of a stir fry restaurant than a Japanese restaurant, and the Kon Tiki had terrible steaks but great salmon. The rooms were spacious and had nice size balconies but the walls were paper thin as you could hear the neighbors easily. The air conditioning didn’t work in our room (1234) the first night and we were to be moved by 3pm the next day. That didn’t happen because the air conditioning was supposedly fixed by the mechanic; it was but did not work great. After 4 nights we demanded another room when the air conditioning did not work at all and got our choice of one room only (4522) in the back of the resort where the air conditioning did work for 2 of the 3 nights we were there. We were not the only ones with air conditioning problems. You have no control over the air conditioning at this resort; you are at the mercy of whoever fixes (mechanics) or adjusts (maids) the temperatures. The maid service was basically none existent the first four days in room 1234, she made the beds and that was about it, no water bottles, no shampoo, our glasses did not get changed or cleaned once in our stay and she surely didn’t do anything about the air conditioning. The service was better in room 4522 but not up to what we have found at other resorts. There are no fridges or coffee machines in the rooms and you pay about three dollars a day for the safe. This is a big resort but there are three lobbies, many pools, bars, restaurants and little vans that go everywhere. The bar drinks are not that good from what my wife tells me but the balboa beer was good. We did not go to the nightly entertainment as it looked amateurish. The Casino is small but ok and there is a Hard Rock store next door with gift wear. We went down the back road from the resort (about a 10 minute walk) to a nice restaurant one night; the La Fogata restaurant’s lobster was great. I wanted to rent a car for one day but when I inquired there was no car available until my last day, so book one early if you want one. I ended up going on the El Valle, Anton six hour tour and it was nice.
The Nolitours staff was great and was at the lobby all day. We asked for a part refund on our room as we were moved from an ocean front room which we paid a premium for to the back of the hotel where the rooms are cheaper. We don’t expect a refund or credit and will probably book with a different group next time if we are not compensated.
We may go back to Panama but we will definitely not book at this resort in the future as this resort was inferior to all the resorts we have been at in the past and we have been to many as we book two winter trips every year and spend six weeks in the States every summer.
If you do go to this resort, be warned it is hot and the air conditioning is a major problem.

Room Tip: It is hot here, make sure the air conditioning works. Bring water with you for the bus ride in and...

First of all if You're coming from Vancouver, Canada be ready for a loong trip!
airtransat (which sucks b.t.w.) flight is 6hrs to Costa-Rica
then You have to stay aboard on the plane for an hour
and then another hour to Panama city airport.
then all the immigration, luggage, customs crup takes another hour
but the worst part is a bus trip.
it takes OVER 3 HOURS fighting the traffic!
We left Vancouver @6AM and got there @10PM local (7PM our time)
so, 11 hours total!
of course it has nothing to do with the resort but be aware of that!
on a positive side they're building airport right next to the resort and it's suppose to be finished in 2014
resort as HUGE (44 buildings) and located on a hill slope which is ok but older people should ask for rooms in first row.
rooms are ok, nothing fancy. in our room shower head was cracked and water was spraying
on bathroom floor and air conditioner had broken shatters and couldn't be adjusted manually.
btw a/c don't have any controls. it's either blows full blast or it's off.
i talked to the management and they said -"yeh. we don't have remote controls for them"
of course it made me feel better right away =o)
in other's couple room a/c didn't work properly and they got two separate beds but it took them two days to get another room
resort has 3 major restaurants and 4 small ones. food is good.
lots of swimming pools and bars
for some reasons staff is not as friendly as staff at resorts in Mexico and very slow
we took a few tours and the best one was Panama Express. it's expensive but worth every penny.
guide was awesome, he really like his job and knows how to do it right.
he never shot his mouth for 12 hours in a row and at the end everyone in the group could take history/flora/fauna exam and pass it =o)
don't bother with Anton valley bus tour, just a waste of time

Room Tip: ask for a room on a top floor and stay away from lobby 1 unless You like noise

The Royal Decameron Hotel is the best bang when it comes to all-inclusives in Panama. Nothing out of the ordinary. Food is average, at best - like most all inclusive around the world. The service and facilities are okay. The one drawback is that depending on when you go, you may run into a packed resort - because of the day passes. However, you should be able to really enjoy the resort after 5 PM - after all the day guests are required to leave. Given the choice, I will always pick Decameron...

Room Tip: If it's your first time, dont stay in Villas....the shuttle service is not consistent enough...y...

I stayed at the Decameron in early Dec actually. It had rained the whole week so the weather made it bad, but we did the most we could.

Beach - pretty nice beach, but at certain times you had to watch for rocks _ depended on what area you were on and where the tide was.

Pools- Decent enough

Restaurants - Pretty much same typical smorgasbord at all all inc resorts / cold food and repetitious. Ala carts were pretty good although I was sick in bed for 24 hours after eating at one. Spent my day on the throne with a waste bucket! I had not been that sick for ever! I was booked for an excursion and they would not refund my money!. It was not an alcohol issue I know for sure! It helps if you can speak Spanish as lots of the employees did not speak English

Entertainment- Some of the shows were good and some were typical high school song and dance!

Bars - Seamed to be a decent amount of bars and the service was good!

Disco - Was flooded with locals and bar service was terrible so I avoided the place.

There is a long bus ride to the resort so be prepared for this! There are lots of stairs and ramps to climb! Watch out for the little vans as they fly around corners! A long resort with a lot of paths, so some areas to walk off you meals if your into a evening stroll!
