We arrived here with our nerves shot after a very stressful drive with multiple detours and getting lost multiple times (Panama doesn't believe in signs on their highway detours), and when we opened the gate to Boquete Garden Inn, I just about wept with delight and relief -- it was like entering a garden paradise, with flowers in full bloom everywhere, the sound of birds filling the air, friendly staff greeting us. I knew we'd chosen well. It just kept getting better when we saw our room, on an upper floor with a beautiful little patio outside. Soft music was playing, there were little chocolates in a bowl, and a free happy hour was starting in half an hour. The happy hour ended up being a wonderful way for guests to hang out and meet each other, and we ended up having dinner with guests we met the first night. This place seems to attract interesting, adventurous, intelligent types, so we felt like we were among kindred spirits -- not the party-hardy hostel crowd... a slightly older crowd who wants to hike and explore and learn about the area. The owners are very outgoing and show up at the happy hour to mingle, answer questions, and make sure everyone feels included. They're very socially aware and know how to get people talking.

Managers Danny and Abel are knowledgeable, helpful, and go out of their way to make sure guests have a good experience. On our last day there, our cab into town to catch the bus didn't show up, so Danny drove us himself.

While there, we did some great rainforest hikes, went on a wonderful coffee tour at Cafe Ruiz, and just soaked in the peace and beauty of the grounds. We would definitely stay here again.

Upon walking into the Boquette Garden Inn, I was in paradise. The grounds are full of flowers and colorful birds that eat upon the fruit laid out on the property. The rooms are nicely decorated with full accomodations. We entered our room with music playing. The prices are great and the mini-bar prices are reasonable. We loved the social hour every evening at six. Breakfast was delicious and complimentary unless you wanted to order from a more extensive menu.I felt like I was living in a modern treehouse in the jungle. The owners are so helpful. They want everyone to enjoy their country. We enjoyed meeting the staff and the other guests at the hotel.

After a long day of traveling we were pleasantly surprised at the beauty of this property and the warm greeting upon on our arrival, and just in time for happy hour! Our host and hostess who are the owners greeted us and couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming from suggestions on what to see and do, to maps and making arrangements. The breakfast is wonderful and it comes with entertainment: The staff puts the fruit rinds out in bird feeders for the birds to enjoy...what a colorful array of birds to watch as they take advantage of their breakfast! Be sure to have a camera with you! The intimacy of the social hour and breakfast give you a chance to meet the other guests and interact, which is a great learning experience - so interesting and helpful. The accommodations are very nice and everything has been updated and feels new. There are 10 guest quarters all very private and most if not all have a small sitting room, kitchen and dining table. All you hear is the river flowing behind the property and the wonderful birds. We could have stayed forever in the lush gardens. So beautiful words cannot do it justice. We definitely would stay here again.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent. Specify if you want downstairs or upstairs.

I can not compare this hotel to others in the area, but this is just what we wanted. A small, quiet, picturesque place surrounded by beautiful gardens. Breakfast was served every morning and it was magical - watching all the beautiful unusual birds feasting on the fruit they set out in the gardens. The rooms were beautiful and in keeping with the feel of being in Panama. The owners and staff were very helpful, and what a nice touch to have happy hour each evening to relax and talk with other travelers. It was best to have a car to get around and get to dinner, which we did. There is one place next to the Inn for dinner - Georges Grill - or something like that. Still a work in progress, but the nicest man, and staff, and good food. Go there and try it.

This was our favorite stay in Panama. Loved the cabanas and the hosts were absolutely over the top. The town wasn't too impressive, but we had a car and could explore the areas in and around there. Definitely would go back. The gardens and the birds (which they fed every morning) were simply breathtaking. The nightly complimentary cocktail hour was also delightful because you got to meet some of the other interesting guests. We stayed three nights.

Great B&B, they are very helpful with advise. The social hour and breakfast is setup so you meet other travelers and learn about places to explore, etc. They set up a taxi ride for the nearby zip line, and told us some nice trails for birding. The gardens are colorful, makes you want to sit right there, and just breath it all in! Recommend it!

We had a good impression before we arrived, Susan was very quick and helpful responding to our emails, sorting out our car hire, taxi transfer to Almirante and a half day trek. On arrival we weren't disappointed.

It's called the Garden Inn, not sure about the Inn bit but what a garden! The second you walk through the gate you enter a world of peace and colour, you just can't help but completely relax. We were met by Danni who told us all we needed to know and showed us to our appartment.

Location - a short way out of town. Walkable to Boquete but would be a bit of a haul, however this places it nicely away from the noise and bustle of the town. Decent restaurants are near to hand if you don't want to stump up a few dollars for a taxi. As it was we had hired a car.

Accommodation - The actual living space is quite small but never felt cramped. A good sized, comfortable bed, excellent shower and kitchenette. It felt light and airy. The best thing was the birdsong in the morning.

Food and drink - The only meal provided is breakfast, cereals, fresh fruit, granola and a hot pastry or muffin are included in the price. For a small extra you can go for a cooked option such as omlette but we never bothered. Excellent local coffee is available throughout the day along with tea bags. The breakfast area is a covered patio with a good view of the brightly coloured birds which visit the feeders. Most spectacular is the Orange Taniger which hangs around the tables on the look out for pieces of muffin

6.00 - 7.00pm is happy hour. Guests can meet up and enjoy complimentary beer and wine. Alternatively the very reasonably priced cocktails are superb. The house special is well worth a try. The owners, Jason and Susan, pop in and are excellent sources of advice regarding activities and places to eat

The garden - This was the best thing for us. Although small in overall size it is cleverly designed with little walkways and lots of nooks and crannies usually containing a hammock, swinging chair or small table. The colours are spectacular, the air is scented and alive with birdsong. We enjoyed coming back fairly early in the afternoon and just sitting with a book.

Susan and Jason have obviously put in a huge amount of work into the Garden Inn and run it exceptionally well. The staff were at all times charming, efficient and helpful. We also felt it offered exceptional value for money.

We really couldn't fault the place!
