Randy has an excellent place perched up in the hills amongst coffee plants and gardens. It’s on the way to the Pipeline hiking trail and the large national park with the Quetzal trail.
We arrived after driving from Bocas and Randy was welcoming and showed us our suite: modern décor, high ceiling and lots of high windows look out to the garden, coffee plants and valley below.
There is a separate deck area (the Ranchito) that has 4 Adirondack style chairs for looking out to the valley below and just relaxing – in a hammock or chair but, sadly the weather was not inviting enough for us to use it, next time!
The suites had plenty of room: a bedroom with ensuite bathroom – large shower with Aveda shampoo, soap etc., soft plush towels and wash cloths (which we had not seen on our trip yet), and even makeup removing towels and a night light – large comfy bed with 2 bedside tables with flowers, a large closet with hangers, iron, heater and hammocks, and a dresser for your use. The suite continues along a hallway to your “living room/breakfast room” with a couch and shelves of movies, books and a dvd player, a small table & chairs, refrigerator, cabinet with cutting board & knife and wine opener, coffee maker and Randy's freshly ground estate coffee.
Randy has a great system where you write on a small white board what you want for breakfast and at what time – you leave it out on you door that night and ta-da –
breakfast (the best on our trip) comes right on time on a tray: coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit, oatmeal, cereals, eggs, French toast, toast, and Randy’s hand-made sausage are offered.
Randy can recommend hikes and drives for the afternoon and where to go for meals etc.
Even if the mists get heavy and its not hiking weather there is a great loop drive he pointed out for us.
We had a rental car so getting around was not an issue but he will pickup in town and also will take you to trailheads in the area if you come by bus.
You are given a cell phone for use during your stay and can use it to make reservations, call on activities, and ask Randy anything.
We were doing an intro/overall trip of Panama and had 2 nights here - could have easily stayed longer but, Randy's suites book up early so plan ahead - we were lucky and there was a cancelation, lucky for us!!!!
