We went to dinner at the Panamonte, on a day when it was full because of the flower festival. It is unfortunate that they have not rebuilt the bridge close to the Panamonte as there is only one way to get to it and if you are staying in one of the hotels on the other side it is quite a way to get to it.. But still it is always a pleasure to go to this restaurant, as the ambiance is special and the food although not superlative, is nice. This restaurant should change the menu as it is the same as it has been for several years. No surprises there. But one knows what to expect and the food is good, dependable fare. Service could be improved particularly when they have a full house, but they are certainly pleasant.

We were in Boquete over the Christmas Holidays and were excited to have a nice sit down dinner at the Panamonte. Although we had reservations, they initially could not find us but eventually did. Got to the table and were seated and at that point, the waiter seemed to think his job was done. After 15 minutes or so, I finally got up and asked him if we could get water. He came to the table and we ordered food and a bottle of wine. Once again I had to keep asking for the wine. Interestingly, he finally brought the wine and poured it...then took it and put it on the bar. When we wanted more, we had to go to the bar and grab the bottle ourselves. When the food finally arrived, the orders were wrong but at that point we just wanted out. I would never recommend this place.

My Spanish is poor but when I say something and its repeated back I expect its understood. The place itself puts on a show with white jackets but the service does not match. Cocktails ordered never came, wine was never filled up and after every course our plates sat on our tables for long periods.

The food was great which saves the rating. Carpaccio was excellent and the lamb shank was great. Maybe big daddy's is more my style but for half the price and twice the service it's a no brainer for me

We arrived at The Panamonte Restaurant and were directed to be seated for Christmas Dinner in the bar area...immediately, we grew a bit concerned. Upon arriving at the bar area we quickly understood that our concerns were totally unwarranted. The room was beautiful...with festive decorations and lit to perfection. The service was friendly and attentive. Within moments of being seated we were served a warm house cider (prepared by the Chef in the center of the room near the roaring fireplace). The five course fixed menu featuring turkey and stuffing, ham with rice and beans, a tamalito, and two appetizer courses (pumpkin soup & beet salad) were well prepared and beautifully plated. My partner raved constantly about the ham (not normally his favorite) and was completely overwhelmed by the sweet french toast stuffing (which he swore he could eat until sleep would overtake him). Finally...dessert. INCREDIBLE! Sweet, succulent bread pudding served with a compliment of vanilla bean ice cream and carmel sauce. My partner's eyes rolled back in his head with delight. What more can or should be said about this wonderful spot...nothing except...GET HERE!

No complaints about the food or the setting, a charming, cozy old world dining room, and the desserts were something special. We got there before 7pm and all was fine until the restaurant started to fill up towards 8pm then everything slowed down and it took an age (15 mins plus) to get our bill. Worth a visit but they clearly struggle when they have a full house.
