Five of us ate here and ordered 4 different fish dishes--all pronounced excellent! Service was attentive and ambiance pleasant. Good sangria, too!

Chef Rodrigo has been with Machu Picchu for many years now and his rich, tomato-based, shrimp and rice Peruvian soup (topped with a fried egg) served in a huge bowl is a meal in itself. We love this anytime though is is especially delicious and warming (like gourmet comfort food!) on a chilly day or after a wilderness experience up in the cloud forest. Not sure if it is on the menu. Just ask. Now the secret is out!

There were 5 of us and we each had excellent fish dishes. All different, and all excellent! If you like fish this is the place! The sauces were exquisite! The mashed potatoes were great! Their menu is a little outdated--the prices were actually a little more than the menu stated (surprised us). But the food was really good.

Though I have nothing bad per se to say about Macchu Picchu, I didn't find it to be quite as excellent as others had made it out to be. Part of it may have just been luck - the menu is quite large and so there are probably more than a couple less-than-excellent choices on it. The appetizers were good but not great (the high point was the shrimp ceviche). We ordered a fish-and-prawn dish in a "light white sauce" that came out absolutely laden in something very similar to nacho cheese. It was really quite interesting, and we couldn't help but laugh about it. So the place didn't do anything wrong, but it didn't blow us away with its food either. I'd maybe give it another shot, but order something very different to see what else that can do.
