“Josue, the receptionist was the best of the hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2011

I work as a tour leader in Centroamerica and I always go to the same hotel. The hotel is located beside the river, is quite and nice. The first day Josue took me to have a ride in his motobike so I could have an idea about the town, he was helping me to find a doctor when a passenger got ill, he is always there for you to help with ANY information you might need, he is always smiling and loves talking with the tourists, he really enjoys it.
this is a very nice hotel with a very good service,

When a team loses a valuable team player it must reorganize and continue on. One person does not make a team, and with this in mind, one person does not make a hostel work.
As owners of Hostal Boquete it is our major responsibility to find ways of improving guest relaxation and services.
While we are saddened by Josue’s departure and we wish him good luck in his future endeavors, Hostal Boquete must continue on in providing the best service achievable to our guests while visiting the beautiful attractions of Boquete Panama.

This was my 1st visit to Panama, and Hostal Boquete added value to my stay in the country. After the insanity of Panama City, Boquete offered a quaint, quiet and amazingly beautiful respite for my colleague and me. Of course, this is a Spanish-language town.

We conducted research and volunteered on behalf of our University. Jhosua, who greeted us, was an invaluable resource during our stay. His kindness and knowledge of the city provided all sorts of adventure and fun for us. Boquete is rich in natural resources - we even journeyed up the (inactive) volcano! An "American" outdoor restaurant in the center of town pprovides day-and-night food, friends, music, dancing and fun. the main restaurant - Sobrason is the name, I think - quite economically fills you up with local dishes . Staying at the Hostal Boquete suited us just fine. Employees there are personable, and worked to ensure our comfort.. Our room was fine. There was river construction at the time, so there was noise, but any annoyance was offset by all the pleasures we experienced. Besides, the result of the construction was a beautified riverfront with amazing stonework. In Boquete, this is the accomodation of choice. This is no place for typical commercialism. If you seek Panamanian authenticity, then go there...see it for yourself!

We didn't know the address, but the taxi driver in David knew exactly where it was. The location is great. Joshua at the front desk was very helpful to show us 3 rooms to choose from. He even carried our bags up the treacherous spiral staircase. He knew where to go for food, massage, activities. He gave us suggestions so that we could have a great experience. The girl who cleans the place was friendly also. FYI, quiet after 9 also means you can't use the computer after that time. The bed wasn't comfortable and one morning, we didn't have hot water. We were only there 2 nights and it was convenient to walk most places. Boquete is a pretty town, unusual for Panama in that it's not real warm, esp. in the evening.

For a hostal, Hostal Boquete satisfied our basic needs - it was clean and the bed was comfortable enough. However, the one night we stayed there, there seemed to be some celebration or festival going on across the river (we had a river view) which prevented us from sleeping. We had arranged a hike the next morning at 6 am, but unfortunately, the party the night before lasted into the wee hours of the night which was disappointing. Additionally, the woman at the reception desk when we arrived did not speak english, which was frustrating given that my spanish is very poor, although she did do her best to show us on a map a good place to eat that evening. The bedding would be much better if the sheets were white as well. The hotel was clean, which we appreciated, but we had a somewhat uncomfortable stay due to the noise. I would recommend this hostal, so long as there are no parties that evening.

Room Tip: Call to find out if there are any parties/events

While not a luxury accommodation, it provides all that a visitor needs for a great overnight stay. We stayed in the riverfront upstairs room and the soothing sound of the raging river was a great way to fall asleep after a long day of travel or visit to the local mountains. The staff deserves a prize for their great personalized and attentive service. The view of the river is one not to miss and the proximity to everything was just a plus. We walked everywhere, especially to our favorite cafe "Central Park:" for a marvelous breakfast for around $4 - eggs, toast, tortillas or hojaldres, and fruit plus coffee. The food in Boquete is fantastic!

Room Tip: Request the upstairs room by the balcony

We stayed in a river view room (#10) for three nights and loved it there. The views from the room were great, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the location is perfect for walking around the city.

We did not have any hot water for the three days that we stayed at the hostal and our neighbours (whom we were travelling with) had only sporadic hot water. But overall were were very impressed with the value ($30 USD/night) and we were able to book the rooms ahead of time using paypal.

Our stay in boquete was enjoyable for the three day visit, disapointment was the room we chose , #7 which recieved rave reports ! on trip advisor. This room needs serious up dates, from bathroom to the cramped bedroom area and the totally poor fitting door that need a wedge to secure it, the window has a habit of crashing open in the middle of the night due to the wind that picks up at night, and the cheap latch that does not work.
The owner was not avaible for the three night we stayed. Hence the report.
