Not really near an easily accessible beach at all. Carapace room #1 was clean and mostly comfortable. The extra firm mattress was appreciated by us but may not suit all. No bath mat or hand towels were supplied for our 12 Dec stay and the shower curtain allows the bathroom floor to get quite wet. A working room safe was appreciated. The in room free Wi-Fi worked ok.
In December as expected there are few turtles but we did see some nesting Green turtles. The National Park viewing tour was not that well organised and there were too many people (and noisy children) in our group. Too much light being shone around too by other participants.
I understand why a hotel would be built well away from the nesting beach i.e. light pollution etc. but the venue is looking quite tired and was not a special stay in our Oman travels. Breakfast was pleasing and the set dinner included in our package was also enjoyed.

The rooms are very simple, although clean and comfortable but really nothibg flash at all. The food was ok BUT....the experience of witnessing the sea turtles was 6 stars - really an amazing life experience and so worth it.
Highly recommend, just don't have high expectations of the room.

We decided to take the tent⛺️ and it was the best decision instead of the rooms... the place is amazing..

The room had 2 twin beds and came with breakfast which was very helpful with kids... the place has no much activities beside renting cycles, yoga classes which were canceled

I would recommend taking your own activities/ game boards/ ball for the kids!

The turtle tour was amazing - truly amazing to see how the turtle lay their eggs and listening to “day in a life of a turtle “ - kids were impressed!

They had 2 tours - one early morning and one at night after dinner..

Make sure you book this place when the weather is cooler! Makes a big difference

One point that annoyed us was the non-Omani receptionist was rude, unpleasant and didn’t bother to answer our questions.. but hey, we had google and it was helpful!

We stayed here for one night in December of 2019 with two adults and one child. We stayed in the Eco tent which was great. The tent is large and clean and situated with a wonderful view. You can unzip part of your tent and see the mountains. They also have a view of the water. They are clean and nice with a a/c unit. The bathroom was clean and fine - I had a really nice warm shower there. In the morning, some goats walked through. We had a nice queen sized bed and an additional twin bed for our daughter. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We showed up just in time to grab dinner at the buffet. It was a bit overpriced but very good with lots of options even for our vegetarian daughter. We did both the evening tour and the sunrise tours. It is worth it to stay there in order to go on the tour as you get to go first. We had mixed feelings about the tours. There were way too many people going on the tours like hundreds in groups of 25 or so. The guides do their best to not disturb the turtles but with that many people looking at them, takling and walking around, it must disturb them. They only use a red light as to not disturb them and people are not supposed to stand near the turtle's head but some of them always do that especially on the morning tour - there was only one guide for two huge groups and he could not be in both places at once - my husband actually had to intervene because folks were taking photos with a flash and standing by the turtle's head. The guides are knowledgeable and were able to explain things. They do not intervene with animals so every night the foxes come down and eat all of the eggs - our morning guide showed us the eaten and dead baby turtles on the beach which was very sad. I wonder if perhaps they should intervene since the turtles are endangered. People are so busy filming and photographing (taking selfies) the poor turtle instead of just having the experience that we ended up just stepping away and giving it some peace. We did get to see the turtle make its way back to the water and swim away which was interesting. The beach is very beautiful and there are huge rocks all around it. The breakfast in the hotel was good. Perhaps they should limit the tours to just the hotel guests. The sunrise was nice.

Room tip: opt for the eco tents

Our room was basic with a tiny window facing a wall, but comfortable with a big bed. The buffet dinner and breakfast was very nice but by far the most expensive we had during our stay in Oman. But we mainly went for the turtle viewings! These weren't quite as I expected - I'd guess there were hundreds of people on the nesting beach on the night we went which seemed a lot for a conservation project. The information book in our hotel room said that light disturbed the turtles, but you could see people's phone screens lighting up all over the beach and the guides didn't tell them to switch them off. The guides look for turtles using low light torches but then when they found one laying eggs stood over her shining a bright light on her so the tourists could see, who in turn stood around taking photos on their phones. But weirdest of all was our group got shown one baby hatchling turtle on the beach, who was obviously disorientated and going the wrong way up the beach following our guide's torch. Then when our group had seen the baby turtle, we watched our guide pick the hatchling up and pass it to the next guide, who then pretended to have found it on the beach. It was so weird, and made us feel really bad for that turtle who was just being passed around like a toy. If the guides want to show people a baby that had been born in captivity just be honest with us! And surely if that was a wild turtle it shouldn't have been picked up..? I wouldn't recommend this place or go back here again.
