This was our second stay in Salalah. Earlier this year we stayed at Crown Plaza in the other end of Salalah. Both hotels are very nice, situated right on the beach.
The view from Hiltons beach isn´t that nice. There´s a pier with lots of cranes as main view to the right on the beach.
The food was OK but not as good as I expected.
The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly.

The place is a bit outside the city but apart from that, I couldn't find anything that wasnt good about the place. The checkin was a breeze; we didnt get the seaview room but after requesting, were given one after a couple of days when it became available. The rooms were nice and the breakfast, OMG, was the best i had ever eaten in any hotel! The front office staff were kind enough to guide us on how to get around, in fact one of the receptionists (an Omani guy) offered to drive us around the town and take us to the tourist sites on his day off. We eventually did go with him and enjoyed the drive.

He did have some knowledge to share on the sites' heritage, which at times was a bit strange, but i'm sure he was just being a good tourist guide. Dont forget to go to the mountain (can't recall the name) where you take the car, put it in neutral and see what happens. At a descending angle, after you park, the car rather than moving down will either stay put or actually climb up!! Ours didnt move but i had heard about this place from many people. so worth a visit. One day is more than enough to see all the main sites.

Taxis are rare in Hilton because of the location (you need to call for one). We never called for one so cant comment on the service level. My recommendation is to hire a guide and do your tours, there is nothing much to do in Salalah, 1 or max 2 days is enough to see all there is to see.

The beach and pool were good; we enjoyed the stroll on the beach, it was very windy though but manageable. Would recommend this hotel to all visiting Salalah.

One night in this hotel after 4 weeks working offshore was enough to rejuvinate me for the homeward trip flights from Salaalah to Muscat to the UK. A great choice of bars and restaurants with good quality food and exceptionally good service is the order of the day at this resort. A great breakfast buffet is offered and is a good start to a long travelling day.
All the usual business amenities are available, with a well positioned desk for internet lead connection and power sockets in the double rooms.
A complimentary airport transfer service is run by the hotel.

Having now stayed at both Hilton and Crowne Plaza I have an opportunity to compare these hotels and recommend which one to choose.

Location: Hilton has a bad location as it is. Roumor says that the harbour will interfer even more with the seaview and the water quality in the near future as the pier will be developed to cover the whole bay in which Hilton is located. Crowne Plaza has in all aspects a far better location and a better and cleaner beach which also is closer to the hotel.

Standard: Crowne Plaza has a more impressive and exclusive lobby and higher standard of the rooms. The rooms are bigger at Hilton.

The facilities at Hilton are nicer; bars, cafés and restaurants but the food comparable, as well as the prices that are not at all high anymore an any of the hotels. They have in fact decreased since I was there last. Crowne Plaza has more entertainment and activities for kids and seems to be more alive at nights.

The service is far better at the Hilton, probably among the best I have experienced. As an example the laundry service was able to wash the laundry and deliver in just six hours; incredible. The nice Phillipine ladies soon become friends with all the guests and always smile. The only problem at Hilton is that the food can take 1 - 1 1/2 hours to be served at the restaurant Palm Grove.

Since in total the hotels are similar, the location will make the difference. Therefore I would generally recommend the Crowne Plaza before Hilton and especially for families with kids or teenagers.

I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights during my stay in Oman. Whilst the hotel looks nice and had comfortable rooms, but is located in the middle of nowhere and you need to use a taxi to get to the centre of town/city.

Rooms were very big and well maintained.

Staff working on the reception were very reluctant to offer any information about places outside of the hotel, such as restaurants in town. It appeared that they just wanted us to spend all the time in the hotel and part with our money there.

The hotel has a nice swimming pool and there is a beach which can be accessed through the back of the hotel gardens.

We did not have breakfast in the hotel, so cannot comment about its quality,
