“Best Lebanese in Salalah”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

This place is small and cozy, unusual for Salalah, where tables are usually 10 metres away from each other.
The food is fresh and tasty--it seems like they care, and the owners work there every night. The garlic salad is superb.
You can get your food to go, as well. Just honk from the curb and someone will run out and take your order.
The pomegranate (roman) juice is excellent.
The only problem is that if you are female, and you aren't with a man, one of the waiters might hit on you constantly. This guy is harmless but a real pest.
Other than that, the food is really good.

“Very Average!”
Reviewed March 2, 2012

After reading, with the aide of “Google translate”, the two previous reviews I was looking forward to eating at this restaurant.
I should know better by now but I still can’t understand why waiters feel the need to lie to their customers!
I am a diabetic and keep it in check with tablets and an almost constant diet. Therefore, when I come off my diet for an evening, it is very important to me that the meal and the whole experience of dining out, is a good one!
I have been trying to cut back on “diet” drinks and was looking forward to a nice fruit juice. The menu stated that the juices were fresh.
I spoke to the waiter, who’s English was adequate, and asked if indeed the juices were fresh and not out of a carton. He assured me that they made them all to order. So I decided on a pomegranate juice and told the waiter to make sure that the kitchen did not add any sugar. The local tastes here in Oman are very much on the sweet side.
When it came I knew right away that it was not fresh! Fresh pomegranate juice is a pale pink and a little thin, this was scarlet and thick. One small sip told me it was loaded with more sugar than I would consume in a month.
The waiter once again insisted that it was fresh and I started to get a little cross. He eventually took it back and returned to tell me that it was in fact from a carton! Then the manager arrived and he agreed that ALL their juices with the exception of orange, were from cartons.
At this stage I would normally have left but it was getting late, I had taken my tablets and I was hungry. I made do with a small bottle of water and ordered the grilled meat with thyme. Whilst I waited I ate the plate of salad vegetables that are always served as a “freebie” in Lebanese restaurants.
The main dish came, presented as usual on a round of Lebanese bread. The portion of meat was generous but the serving of sliced onion was very meagre. The two quarters of grilled onion were well cooked as was the meat.
However, although some pieces of meat were quite tender some were rather on the chewy side, although not inedible. The flavour unfortunately was also not as good as it should have been. The taste of thyme was so vague as to be almost non-existent.
The price at RO2.200 (£3.60) was average as was the meal.
Would I recommend this restaurant? No, there are several better Lebanese restaurants in Salalah.
