The staff, service and decor are lovely. Feels like a romantic meal every time, even when you are just with a group of freinds! We eat here often. Starters are HUGE and main courses hearty. One criticism would be that the menu is limited. Wish there were 'specials'. Also, my husband has a nut allergy and staff are not clearly aware of which dishes contain nuts. Also first place in the world where I have experienced a scalding hot 'creme brulee'. A few tweaks and this place will be perfect. More fans please!

This place is located in the Hilton and is set on the beach in a "veranda"-style set-up. The food is nice (although not as nice as would have been expected in a 5-star hotel. The staff is very nice and professional. As you are right on the beach you can hear the waves. It's also relatively cool during the hot season due to the wind. I eat here regularly and can definitely recommend it.

. One of the nice things about the Palm Grove are the port lights in the distance, which change colour and shape as to whether ships are being unloaded. It is at least a couple of miles away and we had no noise disturbance.
At the Palm Grove expect to pay OMR3 for salads, OMR4-6 for Indian dishes, Grilled fish OMR5, sandwiches and burgers are OMR3.5-4, pasta from OMR3.5 and desserts from OMR 1.5. If you want to push the boat out , steaks are OMR12 and lobster OMR16. The chef and his team at Palm Grove have a very light touch and everything is to order and is delivered piping hot- the chef’s special fish & chips is as good as it gets. Drinks are also affordable with decent house wine (OMR3.2 glass, OMR14 bottle )and draft beer at OMR3.5 and a much wider and expensive choice of wine from OMR25 upwards.

I live in Salalah and have eaten at Palm Grove several times. Most often I feel pretty disappointed. It's not that the food's bad, but rather that it's not good enough for what purports to be a 5-star hotel and which charges a hefty price. The staff are always very friendly and polite and it's a nice place to sit - on an open terrace with a sea view - but those are probably the highlights. After eating there a few times the menu gets very boring - especially if you're a vegetarian. The veggie burger was so bad I had to send it back. It's a frozen burger, about 3mm thick, so by the time it's deep-fried it turns rock hard and inedible. I've heard other people raving about this place but personally I struggle to see the appeal. If you're the kind of person who likes to eat in hotels then you'll probably be happy enough here. For me it's too Western and bland. I'd far rather eat at one of the many local restaurants which serve far more authentic tasty food for a fraction of the price. If you're going to eat here then I would recommend the pool menu where you can have a relaxed toasted sandwich by the pool - informal and the right kind of food for a poolside snack.
