“Most beautiful beach for viewing, not swimming”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

I didn't know what to expect on this stop on a day trip off a Regent cruise. What a wonderful surprise! The amazing natural features, cave, mountains, cliffs, shoreline and blowhole created a sensation of overwhelming astonishment. The sand was fine, white and very silky. Sea grass poked through the sand but not everywhere. Almost on a musical beat the blowhole spouted. Ragged the shoreline was almost artistic as it cut through the crystal clear aquamarine water. The craggy mountains with jutted overhangs majestically shadowed the pathways, which were well kept and lined with benches for resting. I highly recommend a visit, if you should dock in Salalah, Oman.

“visit to marneef cave”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

I have visited Marneef caves in salalah. this is a good place to visit. Although i have not seen water fountain, but the beach was worth a visit. it has full of variety of sea shells for collection. the sand is very nice, though very thin. the blow holes are just wonderful. i think the lime inside the boulders is washed away by water over centuries and created them. some of the blow holes on the rocks are so sharp that you cannot walk on them even with shoes on. so be careful when you walk over the rocks.

“Marneef cave & the Blow holes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Worth a visit, the blow holes are real good if you are there during rainiy/windy season, july-sept.
Drive up to the boarder to Yemen, if millitary let you go, you can drive to Dalkut/Rakyut etc with extremely scenic route. Dalkut has a heli wreck, during rainiy season, extreme care needed on the road as it is slippary and you rarely find another car on that stretch. Not any place to stay, so go early & comeback to Salalah by evening, preferebaly before sunset as its foggy & driving is real tough.

“The blowholes on the road to Dhalqut”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2012

Marneef cave (Mughsayl) is on the road to Dhalqut just on the foothills of the Dhofar mountains. The Blowholes are amazing specially during the 'khareef' months of June/July/August. A good place to take a picnic with the family. There is no entrance fee to the facility. A small cafe is nearby. After visiting there you can drive a few kilometres up on the mountains of Dhofar on the road leading to the Yemen border. Unless you have your passport or resident card with you, you cannot cross the army checkpoint and continue on to Raykhut and Dhalqut (in Oman) which are good places to visit too. Be warned that the road is winding with steep slopes although a 4WD is not necessary.
