A pleasant hotel although the rooms were variable (mine was good). Very pleasant Indian staff and the food better than average but it is a disadvantage to be 4 kms from Nizwa especially for women or single travellers

This is a rather mixed bag of a property. The setting is nice and designed in a traditional style around courtyard settings, there are two swimming pools, a good restaurant (mostly Western dishes) and two bars - one with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating and another firmly geared towards locals. The rooms are large and comfortable but a bit rough around the edges and have just about the smallest and most awkward shower cubicles imaginable (and I'm not a big guy!). The service is all rather patchy and in the bar especially was verging on the hopeless. If this hotel was refurbished it could be really high-end. At present, it's pleasant and adequate but rather underwhelming.

For a short business stay, or tourist stopover, this hotel is fine, but don't let the two lovely swimming pools deceive you! Everything very basic in the rooms, and for the traveller the lack of plug sockets is very frustrating! My room had only one free socket - unreachable behind the sofa - so very difficult to charge phone, laptop, ipad etc. Internet is free and ok, but as in most of Oman, not very strong or consistent. Available everywhere in the hotel. The gym is awful - it's supposed to be 'fully equipped' - but the equipment is very old and very limited. Restaurant is ok, and staff friendly, but the food quality is poor. On two occasions I sent my food back because it was inedible. Also restaurant prices extremely expensive, considering the poor quality of the food.

It is not the Al Bustan and you don’t have 5 star service however when an overnight in Nizwa is in your tour itinerary stay here for a good night sleep. The rooms are spacious with good beds and the en-suite bathroom is sparse but clean, insist on one in the back to avoid any noise. The pool is great to cool off after exploring the Souk & Fort nearby. Their breakfast has a nice spread however you should take dinner in one of the authentic Arabian places in town. Their Arabic & Indian night club provides you with some entertainment but don’t expect too much and as foreigner you can easily turn into the attraction.

Room Tip: Insist on a room in the far back to avoid noise and they are newer.

Unless you are a local boozer or a winter package tourist - in which case you will be fawned over briefly and shamelessly - stay well clear. For all other comers this place continues to live up to its long renowned reputation for officious hostility. Highly lamentable, as it's a lovely spot otherwise

Room Tip: It's pretty hard to find respite anywhere from the rumbling carts, drunks in the car park or scr...

Falaj Daris Hotel is 5 minutes from the centre of Nizwa. The hotel is located on the Nizwa to Muscat road and is close enough to the centre to be able to pop in and out of the town. The rooms are clean and spacious. The beds are very firm but comfortable with fresh linen daily. All rooms are en-suite and have mini bar and TV. The hotel has two swimming pools which are well maintained and much appreciated at the end of a day in the mountains. Free wifi was a surprise as when you log on the site says there is a charge of 1 OMR per hour. But when we checked out true to their word wifi was free. Service is slow at the hotel but the staff are very willing and friendly.

7am on Thursday or Friday is the best time to see the animal market in full swing. Take a camera and remember not to openly photograph women.Nizwa fort and souk are great to explore as is the nearby town of Balah. Sadly Balah fort was not open because of the Eid holiday.

I would certainly recommend this hotel for those travellers who want a pleasant location as a base but not as a holiday hotel.

A nice place to stay and relax when you're in Nizwa. Nizwa Fort is only a 5 minutes drive. Although I found the place to be quite pricey (hotels are generally expensive in that region) I found the rooms were very clean with standard comfort, good A/C, good restaurant (they serve beer and wine), two nice swimming pools. Very negative point for me: Internet access is (over)charged, something not acceptable in 2013 at those room rates. It was the only place that had that policy during my trip in Oman. Front desk receptionist was very helpful.
