First a small word of caution - prices for the hotel do go up during Eid and if you are planning to stay in Nizwa during Eid then book early as all of the accomodation in and around town fills up extremely quickly and you may be stuck with nowhere to stay.
The hotel is a little on the pricey side for what you get but is nonetheless very pleasant. Some of the rooms have great views of the mountains behind the hotel and the location is perfect for getting out and exploring the souks, night market and for day trips to Jebel Shams, Misfat and Al Hamra. The rooms were clean, with effective air-con and nice hot showers. There are mini bars and satellite television in most of the rooms and the beds are large and comfortable in double rooms.
There are two great swimming pools which are lit up very quaintly at night with different coloured lights in the surrounding vines and the food in the restaurants is reasonable - though I would recommend going and eating in the centre of Nizwa for a more authentic, atmospheric and more delicious experience (there is a great kebab/barbecue place directly overlooking the night martket).
All in all, this is a very convenient and comfortable hotel but nothing really to get too excited about. It is definitely one of the better hotels in town and definitely charges a little too much as a consequence. Nothing wrong with it other than the price but nothing really to stick in the memory.
