Small spacious hotel with breath taking view to sunset over Al Ayn village got 27 well maintained rooms, swimming pool and hot water Jacuzzi. Rooms are made in the traditional stone house architecture, but air conditioned and well equipped bath room. On request, Living room sofa turns a spacious children’s bed. Rustic suite also had a kettle, satellite TV (only Arabic channels!), electronic safe and mini bar (non-alcoholic drinks). Hotel features a unique Fossil garden, rocks unearthed during the construction of the property. The in-house restaurant ‘Stars to Savour ’ (@ OMR 6 per head for buffet dinner) showcases relishing culinary sorcery and courteous staff. Jebal Akthar lacks other dining options, so in-house restaurant is the only option. Besides if you are an astronomer, Hotel also have small telescope for you. Hotel do have plenty of fossils, Reference books, antiques in the lobby, they don’t have a Jim and a microwave oven in the room. Rooms are warm, cozy and adequately furnished. As I didn’t had a SUV with 4WD to climb the mountain (mandated by Royal Oman Police), Hotel arranged pickup and drop from Birkat Al Mouz (Base of the Mountain) @ OMR 24/Trip. They will also rent SUV with Driver @ OMR 40/Half day tours. For me and family, it was a pleasant memorable holidays.

Room Tip: Rustic suite and balcony rooms are excellent choices. The balcony rooms have a picturesque view of s...

We stayed here for two nights and were wowed by the fabulous views of the mountains and the spectacular sunsets. It was nice to get away from a business hotel to something more quirky. BUT in late November the hotel was cold and the swimming pool positively icy. When this hotel prides itself on it's views and sunsets, why can't it use the abundance of solar power to heat the pool? The staff were attentive and friendly, running round the cold dining room with electric fires. This is a venue for a summer visit, ideal to get away from Muscat's unbearable summer heat. We did a bit of walking between the mountain villages and drove back down the mountain(40minutes!) to visit Nzwa.

Sahab Hotel, Sayh Qutnah, Saiq Playeau: The view from here is worth the visit alone. This small, but spacious hotel, has 27 well appointed rooms, opening onto a fossil garden with a beautiful mountain top swimming pool. We stayed in a two room Rustic suite where the lounge sofa doubles as a bed for the children. The restaurant offers an a la carte menu at lunch time and in the evening there is a buffet. There is also a buffet, with egg and pancake station, at breakfast, which can be enjoyed on the veranda. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable.

Spent the night with the family at this hotel, took a rustic suit. The rooms were very clean, fresh and spacious. The service was outstanding, extremely welcoming, never seen it so pleasant in other commercial establishment. The view from the hotel into the canyons was fascinating. The temperature was 12C outside, yet the outside Jacuzzi was hot and very tempting. At night, they lit a fire which was warm and relaxing. The food was excellent; the breakfast buffet was generous and had plenty of varieties to choose from. The only feedback I would give is that the water pressure was not sufficient – other than that, it was an excellent stay – my thanks to the hotel and their wonderful staff.

Room Tip: closer to the drop off and higher rooms meqans better view

We have a great time there but it's costly Hotel. The lowest room we got is 82 OMR with facing with other hotel. I do recommend the room with terrace is vaulable. It's aroung 120 OMR/night. We make the trip only one night stay and travel around Jabal Al Akdhar for 2 days. Only 4WD drive is allow for Jabal Akdhar driving. There is police at the basement.
Sahab hotel got excellent view. Sunset view from Jacuzzi is the most l like. There is swimming pool with temperature control, hence you can swim in the winter time if you prefer.

Absolutely fantastic hotel with one of the best views imaginable. The food was alright, but it was a buffet for breakfast and dinner. The temperature can be cold in the mountains in December, so the pool was definitely not being utilized. That said the rooms were nice and the staff was fantastic. This is a great place to stay if you have your own vehicle and are more interested in exploring the nearby mountains and villages than forts in the valley below.
