“Nice and not expensive as the Golden Tulip”
Reviewed February 2, 2014

There are very few alternatives in Khasab if you plan to visit the Musandam Peninsula. This is a good compromise between quality and price; trips organization is excellent and fairly priced. All in all its is good value for money.

lovely rooms, comfortable beds, breakfast hot and plenty, staff very friendly and helpful, their tour facility was excellent and efficient and we enjoyed a days dhow cruise on the cleanest dhow i've ever been on. This is not a 5* hotel as the price shows but a very good value hotel.
windows were netted so could sleep with the window open which was nice, had a good curry in the restaurant one evning sitting out by the pool, family of four 15 OR, so good value

Super clean room and nice staff. Got eaten alive by mosquitoes in the room however and there is no net.

Hotel was 15 min walk down a main road to new souk area with a couple of restaurants otherwise you will need to drive or eat in hotel. There are no taxis in Khasab outside of the 2 hotel buses.

People seemed to not walk around much which we enjoy and instead stay in hotel. Its honestl ly a bit of a dull place to stay but probably best of the few options there are.

We popped down to the tulip to check it out and despite being more expensive looks like the most depressing hotel and completely separate from town. Heinekken an amazing 3.5RO for a small can. I make that about £6.50!!!

So Khasab hotel even with no bar is probably a better option.

If you're used to the 5 star bling of Middle Eastern hotels and place importance on where you stay when on holiday then this hotel is NOT for you. The Khasab Hotel is really down to earth, a little tired looking but is excellent value for money in comparison to what else is on offer in Khasab. The hotel is in the centre of Khasab and close to most sights, souk and supermarket. Yes the decor is stuck in the 80's (which I quite like!) but it is clean and the staff are so helpful. Just be sure to ask for a non smoking room as the smoking room we somehow ended up with was pretty revolting. We asked to change rooms and were given an even better room for no extra charge. The restaurant is more than acceptable. We had Indian food both nights and it was delicious. We ate breakfast on the terrace by the swimming pool. The hotel offers dhow and mountain excursions. The things that could be improved are Internet access in all rooms not just the main reception area and card payment. At the moment cash only payment is available which seems a little backward in the year 2013.

There are few hotels to chose from in Khasab. But this hotel served us nicely for the couple of days we spent in the area. The dining room is small and dreary looking. The pool area needs a makeover as well. But our room on the second floor in the northwest corner was large, clean, and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.
My friend and I had arranged with the hotel to be picked up when we arrived with the ferry from Muscat. That did not happened. There are no taxis in Khasab but a call to the hotel from a borrowed mobile phone solved the problem. For the price it was a good choice.

Hotel options in Musandam are limited; the Khasab is cheaper than the Golden Tulip, and is in town. It's nothing to write home about, and quite expensive for what you get. The staff seemed dispirited, the hotel is designed like a Soviet housing block, and the decor is uninspiring and a bit scruffy. The room was large, bedding and towels were clean, water pressure good, but the shower flooded and was very slow to drain. Our washbasin drain was not connected properly, and leaked everywhere, although this was fixed as soon as we reported it. The pool area is vaguely depressing (cheap plastic furniture on the terrace) and the pool looked distinctly grubby. The buffet breakfast was also uninspiring.

Another point to note is that if you book a dhow cruise and half-day mountain safari through the hotel, you may well not get an English-speaking guide. Not such a problem for the dhow cruise, but quite disappointing in the mountains because there's a lot to see, and a lot of questions to ask.

This hotel is adequate, but if we were to go back, we'd look for alternative accommodation.

We stayed in Khasab during the national holidays. We were 3 families with 4 kids. We booked 1 double bedroom suit & one twin occupency room. Its avarage. I personally have stayed in hotels like Royal Park Tokyo, Dusit Thani bangkok, Novotel Phuket -- but still its not bad at all... We thoroughly enjoyed our staying. We partied hard till the wee hours, danced & sang chorus till laye night. The authority requested us to keep the sound little low & we did. But thats a part of holidaying. Hardly bothered about exactly whats not in the room or whats smelly. Evenour house is not always picture perfect. We never find anything abnormal. Location was great. Lulu hyper is nearby. Breakfast was okay. But.. But... But... If u order any food from the room service, huh, not so great... But you have no option bcoz there's nothing, simply no restaurant around... Either u have to drive upto Golden Tulip (food was again just so so) thats very very far or buy readymade from Lulu Hyper... Other than food -- everything is just ok for the sake of fun with friends!
