We went two nights in a row. The first night was just two of us, it was a Monday and it was just about empty. Service was good and the food was excellent. A butterflied pork chop with chopped tomatoes was about perfect. The stracciatela soup was fantastic, and the grilled seafood special was nicely prepared with just perhaps a bit too much oil, but very nicely grilled so that the squid, shrimp and scallops were not rubbery but you could taste the grill.
The second night, a Tuesday, was different. We were with 8 people and the place was busy. Several people ordered the fish and each time we did the waiter suggested "sauteed". In each case (filet of sole, monk fish, and branzino came swimming in a butter sauce, not quite a meuniere (not browned enough) but not quite a butter lemon. It was a starchy, mess that looked and tasted as if it came out of a packet. very disappointing. My colleague who had the butterflied pork chop (paillard) the night before had it again and was once more pleased. One of our group had the risotto with mushrooms and that was very rich and slightly smoky. The appetizers were hit and miss. The peppers and sausage was excellent, the baked clams arreganata were oily and the fried calamari was average.
The wine list was laughable. Several empty plastic sleeves in the book, there were only two pages of wines and they were abysmal. There was not one bottle that had any redeeming qualities.
Overall, not bad on the right night, as mentioned the first night was very nice.
